Join our dedicated team at Ross Park Zoo as a Visitor Experience Specialist! This unique position combines the skills of customer service and education to provide exceptional experiences for our visitors. You will play a vital role in creating memorable moments, promoting wildlife conservation, and fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for our animal residents, aligning with our strategic conservation plan.
Essential Duties:
- Customer Service: Provide outstanding customer service by creating a positive and welcoming environment for zoo visitors. Engage with guests, answer questions, and provide assistance, ensuring their visit is enjoyable and informative, while emphasizing our conservation initiatives. Assist visitors in becoming members by explaining membership benefits, processing memberships, and providing information on exclusive events and perks. Ensure members receive personalized attention and enjoy a seamless experience throughout their membership journey, while highlighting the conservation impact of membership.
- Guided Tours and Animal Spotlights: After completing thorough training and practice sessions, conduct engaging guided tours and animal spotlights, sharing fascinating information about various species, their habitats, behaviors, and conservation efforts. Tailor tours to different age groups and educational levels, highlighting our conservation-focused initiatives. Be physically capable of walking, standing, and speaking for extended periods (approximately 2 hours per tour).
- Visitor Services: Sell admission tickets, concessions, and merchandise at various locations within the zoo. Provide accurate information about exhibits, programs, and upcoming events, emphasizing our conservation-focused initiatives. Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned areas to create a positive Visitor Experience.
- Conservation Advocacy: Promote conservation initiatives and raise awareness about the zoo's commitment to wildlife preservation. Share information about sustainable practices, habitat protection, and ways visitors can make a positive impact on the environment, inspiring them to become conservation advocates.
- Tram Operation: Safely operate the 9-passenger tram, adhering to safety standards. Enhance the guest experience by offering informative commentary during tram rides, enriching their visit with interesting facts and stories about the zoo and its inhabitants.
- Food Service: Assist with food service operations, including selling concessions within the zoo. Maintain safety, cleanliness and organization of food service areas to create a positive dining experience for visitors.
