Job Description
Located in Chicago, the firm is expanding its operations around the State. Looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and skilled assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with an experienced professional in a growing business. I genuinely care about my work, and the people I work with, and the successful candidate would have genuine care too.
My business provides alternative dispute resolution (or ADR) services, training and consulting. The ADR services I provide include mediation and arbitration, where I act as a neutral third party to help others resolve conflict without a judge deciding the outcome. I am an experienced lawyer, but the business is not a law firm and no legal experience is required.
Beyond any paid ADR services, I volunteer on boards, serve as an officer with non-profit organizations, and provide many volunteer ADR services. I also provide training and consulting, and teach a law school class. I love doing a lot, and have lots of other projects and ideas

If you love organizing, being an important part of an operation, are confident in sharing ideas and following up, and have an interest in supporting the effort of a growing and diverse business, this is for you. I’d like you to understand the reason for tasks so you can do them better and suggest ideas to improve operations and efficiencies. You’ll learn my working style.
For 10-15 hours per week (with some time each day M-F), you’ll work on a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:
— Creating, updating and managing various spreadsheets (trackers)
— Maintain accurate contacts lists and CRM activities
— Create to-do lists and priority sheets and reminders
— Speak directly with third parties to schedule meetings and case activities
— Actively manage administrative functions

— File and record management
— Other tasks as assigned
— Calendar management
— Proofreading and light editing
— Email monitoring
** Big Bonus: social media, marketing, branding, business development-minded
The ideal candidate would have some knowledge of legal environments or ADR, but that’s not required if you are committed to learning. I will help you learn and enjoy training; I can easily help you get up to speed on anything you haven't encountered before. Ability to maintain confidentiality and securely manage information is critical.
The expectation would be for a long-term relationship that may increase as the business requires.
With this remote position, you’ll have flexibility and we’ll discuss scheduling regularly to figure out what works for everyone.
