Summary:

 

The Video Systems Coordinator in the Klein College of Media and Communication is responsible for coordinating portable audiovisual and broadcast production equipment and accessories loan operation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to implementing and enforcing standard policies and procedures directly related to equipment loans; training students, faculty, and staff (including student employees) on the operation of all portable equipment and accompanying technology; and supervising student employee staff. The Video Systems Coordinator is also responsible for ensuring that equipment office assets are in proper working order, the equipment inventory is current, and larger repairs are referred to appropriate personnel as necessary. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

 

Bachelor's degree and two years of film/video or related experience. Demonstrated experience with Mac/Windows computers; camcorders and mirrorless/DSLR camera systems; wired and wireless microphone systems; digital audio recorders; portable lighting systems; cellular bonding (LiveU); AV cable and accessories. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Required Skills & Abilities:

 

*Good understanding of media management workflows (broadcast journalism), transferring solid-state media, and backup procedures.

*Familiarity with word-processing programs, database and spreadsheet software, and communication tools such as e-mail and Microsoft Teams.

*Ability to send information to a defined group within the college (e.g. mass communication to faculty, students, and staff associated with a specific course, laboratory, or event).

*Ability to analyze and provide summary database information on current transaction activity to address availability issues and predict future usage concerns.

*Familiarity with the basic concepts of contemporary video editing software (specifically Adobe Creative Cloud).

*Proven knowledge and ability to use portable film, video, and audio equipment.

*Demonstrated administrative and technical skills.

*Strong organizational skills.

*Ability to work under the pressures of a large program of students, faculty, and staff.

*Ability to handle numerous demands simultaneously and to make quick decisions.

*Excellent client service and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.

*Working knowledge of Mac OS and Windows operating systems.

*Ability to format media, copy and delete files, create a file directory, rename a file, call up a directory, and back up a hard drive or a directory of files.

*Ability to help develop and follow standard operating guidelines used by the department.
