Intro and job overview:
As the VP – User Experience, you will lead the Precisely UX design team that defines the end-to-end experiences of our products and solutions. Our approach to User Experience is grounded in design thinking. We work with our cross-functional product teams to build empathy for our users and then define, build, validate and iterate design concepts.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Lead a dynamic team of product designers and researchers
- Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement within the team
- Provide strong coaching and mentorship to support the growth of team members
- Develop and oversee end-to-end product design strategy aligned with business goals
- Champion a customer-first approach in all design solutions
- Conduct in-depth user research to inform design decisions
- Ensure that all design solutions are innovative and aligned with user needs
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration through workshops and design sprints
- Work closely with other departments to drive innovation and ensure cohesive product experiences
- Establish and maintain a robust design system to ensure consistency across the enterprise
- Manage a team of approximately 15 to 20 designers and researchers
- Play a crucial role in hiring, onboarding, and developing team members
- Ensure the quality and excellence of the design deliverables produced by the team
- Set and maintain high standards for design processes and outcomes
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and incorporate feedback into the design process
- Drive innovation within the design team and contribute to the overall innovation culture of the organization
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in design to bring fresh insights to the team
- Establish metrics for evaluating the effectiveness of design solutions and iterate based on data-driven insights
- Influence stakeholders across organizations to gain support for design strategies.
- Own project priorities, including finding and aligning resources
Requirements and Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI, Human Factors/Ergonomics, CS, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
- 10 years of experience in product design or UX.
- 5 years of experience leading design projects and managing people or teams.
- 3 years of work experience working with executive leaders.
- Leadership: proven experience leading and managing design teams in fast-paced environments. Ability to inspire and motivate teams toward a shared vision.
- Design Expertise: extensive experience in product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful projects. Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe Creative Suite.
- User Research: demonstrated expertise in conducting various user research methodologies. Ability to translate research insights into actionable design improvements.
- Strategic Thinking: track record of aligning design strategies with business objectives. Experience in developing and evolving design systems.
- Communication Skills: strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions to diverse stakeholders. Experience presenting design concepts and strategies to executive leadership.
- Collaboration: proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Experience facilitating workshops and design thinking sessions.
- Adaptability: ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Willingness to embrace new technologies and design trends.
- Innovation and Creativity: Demonstrate a track record of introducing innovative design solutions that differentiate products in the market.
- User-Centric Focus: Ensure design decisions are grounded in a deep understanding of user needs and behaviors.
