The Role
The Vice President, Tax Operations, role is responsible for setting the strategic vision for Tax Operations professionals. You will oversee the delivery of multiple regulatory tax forms as well as envision the next iteration of forms. You will lead the team in strategic technological changes, cost basis, tax and performance reporting while creating a highly interactive and engaging work environment.
- Create an environment for delivering of superior service, utilizing metric-based reporting.
- Ensure strategic initiatives maintain project integrity while creating scalable products.
- Apply IRS tax regulations to a brokerage environment.
- Consults internal business partners and external clients to ensure tax implications of business decisions are clearly understood.
- Envision the next iteration of tax reporting that will deliver the best customer experience.
- Review vendor contracts and provide clear guidance to our procurement partners.
- Balance development opportunities using risk-based analysis.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- 10+ years understanding of financial services operational workflows (Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience).
- Prior people manager experience required. Ability to coaching managers for professional development and career vitality.
- Series 7 & 63, 24 or 9/10 required. (Or willing to obtain within business unit requirements.)
- Working knowledge of hedge fund structures.
- Ability to communicate complex processes in a simplified manner to senior levels.
- Advanced understanding of IRS tax regulations and the ability to apply them.
- Working knowledge of tax regulations such as 1441, 1446(a) and (f) and 6045.
- A thorough understanding of filing 945 and 1042 forms.
- Working knowledge of broker dealer required tax forms, such as 1099 series, 5498 series as well as issuing 990T forms.
- Advanced knowledge of IRS withholding and remittance files.
- Ability to make risk-based decisions in adherence of a strict regulatory environment.
- Working knowledge of cost basis regulations and multi-faceted performance reporting calculations as well as Unrelated Business Taxable Income.
- Accurately calculate both pre- and post-tax performance reporting calculations for over 10 million accounts
The Team
The Tax team handle numerous inquiries from multiple business as well as team deliver accurate cost basis and performance calculations in making trading decisions. We often speak with tax accountants and tax lawyers with front line clients reviewing the posted tax forms. The tax team strives to deliver superior service and protect the reputation of the firm.
The base salary range for this position is $103,000-$174,000 per year.
Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate's relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
