Job description

The Vice President, Strategic Relationship Management role at Corebridge Financial plays a significant role in client retention, responsible for leading a team of relationship managers, while also building, maintaining, and growing strong and committed client relationships with key decision makers, influencers, and C-suite committee members of the firm's strategically important plans. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to represent the SVP, Head of Relationship Management, when needed, and act with a level of authority required to make critical decisions, both financial and operational.
About the role

  • Provide leadership, training, and development for the Relationship Management team in their respective region(s) or market specialty.
  • Partner with their regional field leadership team to minimize surrenders, drive positive net flows and improve plan sponsor and participant engagement in their respective region(s)
  • Maintains proactive awareness of changes in the client's business, their competition, industry, and marketplace, through proactive solicitation and/or research, to influence and impact client satisfaction.
  • Responsible for external business planning and service reviews to ensure understanding of clients' goals and objectives.
  • The role is a consultative role, requiring a clear understanding of the business needs and relevant challenges of plan sponsors.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with plan sponsors, executive management, and administrative personnel for key plans in their respective region(s).
  • Provides advice while leading and collaborating with an internal team of service-based associates and partners across the organization to offer solutions to resolve client problems and drive operational accuracy and efficiency.
  • Drive client satisfaction and client loyalty by seeking feedback, anticipating needs, and proactively providing solutions, ultimately leading to client references.
  • Ensures that Corebridge delivers on our service and performance agreements.
  • Together with your internal teams and partnering with the Plan Sponsors, you will help our institutional clients lead a successful benefits program to improve their overall plan health.
  • Works with consultants on inbound inquiries, plan sponsor presentations, plan design, product, technology, customer concerns, fund changes, revenue requirements, pricing negotiations, Corebridge thought leadership, plan analytics, etc.
  • Works with team to develop a comprehensive, business plan and customer-centric Relationship Management strategy for plans in their respective region(s).
  • Proactively evaluates client pricing and fees for appropriateness using all available pricing levers and client dynamics.

What we are looking for
  • Ability to represent SVP, Head of Relationship Management as proxy in proven leadership ability and the ability to interact with Corebridge senior leadership.
  • Ability to lead strategic initiatives of the firm, as requested.
  • Recognized ability to mentor, develop and lead teams of relationship managers with a primary focus on delivering excellent customer service and client retention.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in areas of benefits design, compliance, and implementation with appropriate designation (i.e., CEBS, ASPA, etc.)
  • Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends in the retirement space.
  • FINRA Series 6 and 63 required or appropriate FINRA/state insurance licenses required.
  • Pension experience preferred bachelor's degree in business, finance, or another related field
  • Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of ERISA and succeeding legislation governing qualified pension plan types.
  • Ability to handle difficult client interactions; Solves issues and leads escalations appropriately.
  • Demonstrated ability to continually meet and exceed Plan Sponsor and Participant goals.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in dealing with client organizations, especially top management.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills including the ability to make presentations on complex information.
