Position Title:Vice President of Human Resources

Reports to: CFO

Job Description:

The Vice President of Human Resources plays a critical role in overseeing and managing various aspects of the human resources function within the organization, including policy and procedure development, and handbook creation and maintenance for multiple states. This position requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. The VP of HR is responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives that align with the organization's goals and objectives, while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations across all states of operation. The Vice President of Human Resources plays a vital role in shaping the organization's culture, attracting, and retaining top talent, and driving employee engagement and performance. With additional responsibilities in policy and procedure development and handbook creation and maintenance, this position requires a detail-oriented leader who can ensure compliance with state and federal regulations across multiple states of operation while supporting the overall goals and objectives of the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Recruitment:

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
  • Oversee the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and hiring.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and develop job descriptions.

2. Benefits Administration:

  • Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other fringe benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to employee benefits.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to the benefits package to remain competitive in the market.

3. Employee Relations:

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to managers and employees.
  • Implement policies and procedures to promote positive employee relations and resolve conflicts.
  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints and grievances as needed.

4. Performance Management:

  • Develop and implement performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Provide training and support to managers on performance management best practices.
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

5. Credentialing:

  • Oversee the credentialing process for employees, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of employee credentials and certifications.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure employees meet credentialing requirements.

6. Policy and Procedures:

  • Develop, implement, and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies and procedures.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations and update policies and procedures accordingly.

7. Handbook Creation and Maintenance:

  • Develop and maintain employee handbooks for each state of operation, ensuring consistency and compliance with state-specific regulations.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel to ensure handbook content aligns with current laws and regulations.
  • Communicate handbook updates to employees and ensure understanding and compliance.

8. Merger and Acquisitions (M&A)

  • Service as key HR advisor during M&A activities, including due diligence, integration planning, and post-merger integration.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies to support successful M&A transitions, including employee communications, retention strategies, and cultural integration efforts.

9. Payroll Management:

  • Oversees payroll administration for multiple states and entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate with payroll vendor on changes and issues.
  • Stay updated on changes to payroll laws and regulations across different states and ensure compliance in payroll processing.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in human resources, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of recruitment, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, credentialing, policy and procedure development, and handbook creation.
  • Experience developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR) preferred.
