We are looking for a growth leader who will take a sales approach to payer partnerships; testing, learning, and optimizing strategies that enable strategic relationships with our payer partners to grow, efficiently managing resources that align partnership priorities to business goals. You’ll shape our reputation with the largest payers in the country. This position is responsible for overseeing and planning the various business opportunities for accessing new and existing markets with Eargo products; including developing long term strategy plans and implementation for market functional areas including patient access programs, market access and payer strategy, managed markets, government markets and other trade and strategic opportunities.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and implements strategy for patient access, insurance, and reimbursement
- Develops and manages product/service offerings for insurance companies/ payors and benefit managers
- Develops and manages strategy to increase Eargo’s covered lives by gaining in-network/ on-contract status with insurance plans and benefit managers
- Develops value proposition and messaging tailored to each payor
- Manages payor engagement, including payors, benefit managers, and group
- Partners with Chief Revenue Officer to execute on plan member engagement
- Partners with Chief Compliance officer to ensure Eargo’s ongoing compliance with health plan policies and relevant government regulations
- Leads the relationship with key market access partners and works collaboratively with cross-functional teams on communication strategies and commercial operations to support these partnerships.
- Analyzes the market in terms of coverage and reimbursement, existing and emerging payer and healthcare regulatory policies, formulary listings, competitive landscape, trends, pricing, contracting strategies, potential barriers to provider and patient access.
- Informs and influences key opinion leaders, manages relationships with relevant consultants and advisors, and develops differentiated value propositions to strengthen Eargo’s ability to drive market access initiatives.
- Key market functional areas may include patient access programs, market access and employer strategy, managed markets, government markets, and trade and strategic accounts.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in payor/provider relations and market access in medical device
- In-depth knowledge of the reimbursement legal/regulatory environment with demonstrated integrity on compliance related considerations
- Direct experience with supplemental health care benefits or supplemental benefit vendors
- Ran benefits at a company similar to Eargo in hearing, vision, or other ancillary healthcare benefits; or
- Handled product design and/or vendor management at a health plan
- Experience in operations and management of remote teams.
- Consulting or project management is a plus.
- Experience with telehealth (or analog requiring navigation of various state regulations) is a strong plus.
- Coding, coverage and reimbursement experience within medical device or biotechnology industry
- Willing to act decisively in an uncertain environment
- Must understand how to impact process with payors for obtaining coverage decisions
- Demonstrated ability to be successful in consultative selling situations/markets
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
