Seeking a Vice President of Risk Management for a well established financial institution based in Suffolk County, Long Island, NY.
The ideal candidate has 8 to 10 years of Risk Management experience in a financial institution, 3 years of which must have been in a progressive managerial capacity. You have the ability to provide supervisory leadership of professional- and intermediate-level staff. You are skilled in gathering, analyzing and compiling complex financial and statistical data.
What you will do:
Establishes and directs all functions of the Risk Management, Compliance and Security programs based on a holistic, enterprise-wide view of risk. This role will report to the EVP/CFO of the company.
∙Directs the daily and long-term functions of the Risk Management department, including the compliance function, fraud, BSA/AML, ERM, Business Continuity/Resumption and security for the information and facilities
∙Oversees employees through effective organizing, mentoring/coaching, counseling, recognizing, appraising, and hiring and/or terminating in collaboration with the Human Resources department
∙Participates in developing and evaluating the credit union’s short- and long-term strategic goals and objectives to reduce the credit union’s risks; communicates such goals and objectives to overseen staff members
∙Develops and maintains tools and methodologies for risk analysis
∙Develops and maintains the credit union’s compliance program
∙Develops and maintains the credit union’s facility and information safety and security programs, including developing staff training for safety and responses; ensures facility compliance with OSHA and ADA regulations
∙Investigates all security breaches of facilities, financial information, member account information or otherwise
∙Proactively manage and prevent fraud across all products and channels including Debit cards, Credit cards ACH, P2P, A2A, and Checks via in Branch and Digital
∙In charge of all aspects of BSA.
∙Liaisons with law enforcement officials for physical security breaches, safety emergencies, robberies, fraud, forgery or other criminal cases
∙Enhances risk models and tolerances for use by the department to monitor and control risks
∙Reviews credit union policies and procedures and makes recommendations for embedding Risk Management policies/procedures across the organization
∙Liaisons with compliance examiners and coordinates all requested documentation to ensure a timely response.
∙Responds to serious member concerns as a representative of the credit union
∙Reviews all contractual agreements for compliance and disclosures; resolves and represents the credit union in contractual breaches, modifications and terminations
∙Prepare Risk Management reports for the Senior Management Team and the Board of Directors
∙Participates as a member of various credit union committees, including Risk Management
∙Disseminates information regarding laws and regulation changes to affected departments; audits departments for compliance with proposed regulatory changes
∙In charge of the Credit Union’s Business Continuity and Resumption Plan. This includes documentation, developing and testing RTOs for critical functions, running tabletop exercises with Executive Management and Department Managers, and reporting to the Board of Directors.
∙IRequired to travel by vehicle up to 10% of work time each month for visiting credit union locations and members and by plane at least twice annually for attending training and/or conferences
Requirements
∙Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field required
∙Compliance Officer Certification required (or obtained within two years of hire)
∙Valid Drivers license
∙Knowledge of credit union products, services, policies, regulations and procedures
∙Knowledge of strategic planning methodologies
∙Proficient knowledge of risk analysis techniques and theories, with a strong understanding of regulatory environments affecting the financial industry
∙Proficient knowledge of facility and information security techniques
∙Proficient skill with using and analyzing data with spreadsheet software
∙Demonstrated skill in financial modeling
