Job description

Overview:

The Vice President of Revenue Cycle (VPRC) is responsible for the oversight and direction of all Revenue Cycle services throughout One Brooklyn Health Acute and Ambulatory Care and Offsite billing. Ensure that all processes are appropriately managed. This position is responsible for creating and promoting an environment of leadership with respect to the Medical Center’s $600 million annual Revenue Cycle. In addition, this position provides ongoing support to a professional staff to meet the expectations for high quality customer service, fiduciary relations, and other established guidelines Lastly, the position is responsible for ensuring our managed care contracts are optimized and that the organization follows all federal state and local billing rules.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement vision and business/operating plans targeted to promote the growth and enhancement of Revenue Cycle services to meet the needs of the Medical Center.
  • Supervise the Director of Health Information Management, Director of Patient Access and the Director of Patient Accounting.
  • Clearly communicate Revenue Cycle performance expectations to staff to achieve Revenue Cycle goals in patient access, health information management and the business office.
  • Work closely with Chief Financial Officer and other Medical Center leaders to effectively manage day-to-day matters and contribute to long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise in all areas of the Revenue Cycle. The VPRC must have the ability to identify and implement corrective action regarding Medical Center critical business needs on a real-time basis.
  • Work closely with clinical leadership and support the Revenue Cycle processes to support the clinical service goals of the organization. Those goals include, but are not limited to:
  • Charge capture for services performed.
  • Charge Description Master supervision along with Director of Patient Accounting, and the VP of Reimbursement
  • Work with finance regarding revenue recognition, Cash collection.
  • Minimizing bad debts by engaging stakeholders in robust Denial Management Protocols
  • Coding compliance for technical, professional, and ambulatory services
  • Registration and scheduling
  • Customer satisfaction
  • Responsible for supervision of all Revenue Cycle personnel.
  • On-going corporate compliance vigilance and monitoring
  • Performs other job duties assigned by management. In an emergency, performs other duties necessary for the welfare of patients or the efficient operations of the Hospital.
  • All other duties as requested.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health or business administration or other related field required.
  • Master’s preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum ten (10) or more years of proven, progressive experience in healthcare receivables management in a complex medical center or system.
  • Proven experience in both hospital and physician Revenue Cycle.
  • Knowledge and experience with industry charge methodology, billing, and collection regulations.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Goal oriented individual accustomed to working in a complex environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams, projects, tasks, and goals.
  • Proven business acumen, analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced operation with high standards of excellence.

Licenses, Certifications:

  • Healthcare Financial Management Association Certified Cycle Representative (CRCR) or comparable certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Consistent with that necessary to work in a variety of patient care and office settings.
  • Position requires prolonged periods of sitting and use of a computer and screen viewing throughout the working day.
  • Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
