Position Summary
AI has captured the headlines and imagination of our industry and the transformation that is occurring is comparable to when browsers, and then search, made a previously promising and yet complex technical innovation useful and scalable for all. As was the case then when mastering the browser and search were not the end game for marketers, neither are today’s LLMs and their corresponding chatbot interfaces. They are instead, the start of a fundamental shift in how data and information are being brought together and are being embedded within the systems that enable marketing and will soon begin seamlessly connecting our MarTech and AdTech solutions with sales, inventory, and industry data. This is not about mastering technology; it is about harnessing it to enhance human judgment when developing and evaluating strategy and creative, and deriving valuable and actionable insights to increase efficiencies, mitigate risks, and drive growth.
ANA is ahead of the curve in creating a comprehensive suite of practical resources to assist its members in understanding, embracing, and adopting these new tools and enabling them to share, learn, and prosper together. And, while AI is our immediate priority, we have experienced and learned from other technology-driven innovations in the past, and they will continue to transform the customer journey, create new marketplace opportunities, and cause us to reinvent our Marketing Ways of Working, just as they are now.
The key strategic steps and the need for marketers’ voices to be heard while principles and industry standards are being created are similar whether we are considering AI, AR, IoT, and other Web3 innovations on the horizon, and getting them right may be more vital now than ever. We will focus on perfecting the frameworks and repeatable processes necessary to understand, evaluate, and safely scale the effective use of innovative new technology-driven opportunities.
This role is responsible for managing this vital new practice, is part of a larger Data, Technology, and Measurement Team, and reports to the EVP – MarTech, Addressability, and Marketing Futures.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Position:
  • This experienced and well-connected practitioner will be responsible for creating the content, community, and decision support tools to assist marketers in assessing, sourcing, implementing, and scaling new technologies.
  • This person will be adept at curating and demystifying the marketplace noise and in creating frameworks to make vital partner decisions regarding solutions, processes, and skills necessary for success while always being focused on priority functional business use cases.
  • The successful candidate will oversee the development of, and execution of custom assets, solutions, and products intended specifically for CMOs and other supporting teams within our member organizations. This includes programming informative and actionable content that inspires and engages members within forums where they share, learn, grow, network, and prosper together. Examples include but are not limited to committees, working groups, webinars, reports/playbooks, tools/resources, and industry conferences.
  • Partnering with agencies, platforms, and data & technology providers, this person will help identify, prioritize, and drive industry leadership initiatives. These are often focused on addressing challenges that our members may not be capable of addressing on their own and may be done in conjunction with industry working groups.
  • As a senior leader, this person will play a key role in shaping the future strategies and strategic priority roadmap of the ANA MarTech, Addressability, and Marketing Futures team.
Attributes/Skills Required:
  • An understanding of automation and AI technologies and their application in business operations with recent senior-level experience from within a marketer, agency, or solutions provider.
  • Ability to interact with high-level executives from member organizations and key technology partners.
  • Excellent communications skills – must be able to write and present effectively; adjust to fit the audience and the message; strong ability to get a message across and be persuasive.
  • Curious, passionate, start-up sense of urgency and entrepreneurial mindset; not afraid to take risks and try new things, and always looking for new ways to expand your knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple concurrent projects with quick turnaround times and to work collaboratively with a team, as well as independently and with minimal supervision.
  • A relationship builder and people person – the position requires excellent facilitation and collaboration skills and will provide the candidate with frequent opportunities to work with ANA members at hundreds of companies.
  • Bachelor’s degree required along with 10+ years of experience.
