Vice President, Pre-Construction

The Vice President, Pre-Construction, is responsible for building and managing a multidisciplinary team coordinating and executing early-stage deal support services to get a project from the offtake/customer agreement milestone to Notice to Proceed. This position will work cross-functionally with Business Development, Engineering, Estimating, Procurement, Development, Commercial Operations, and Legal leadership to support deal progression from opportunity to construction. This position will ensure activities are developed and carried out in line with company and industry standards with a focus on people and systems continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

• Coordinate constructability and technical review of projects with engineering, interconnection, and development teams.
• Develop and manage detailed schedules and budgets in accordance with existing company protocols.
• Align EPC Agreement scope and schedule with interconnection, permitting, and other development needs.
• Facilitate internal and external resources to execute early-stage design activities including conceptual designs, layouts, PV optimization, production analyses, value-engineering analyses, economic optimization activities with all key stakeholders. Chair regularly scheduled project meetings with internal and external parties.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts amongst the team and across departments.
• Support the refinement of estimating tools, develop cash flow templates, and update through the project life cycle.
• Collaborate with the Development and Project Execution Team to support the Financial Planning and Analysis team in quarterly budgetary forecasting.
• Support Business Development’s evaluation of deal pipeline opportunities.
• Apply best practice project management and design principles to determine the potential design feasibility of energy storage and/or solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
• Evaluate design alternatives; lead teams and processes to optimize project design options based on permitting restrictions, utility standards, cost, schedule, offtake preference, and risk.
• Ensure turnover of a project from Pre-Construction to Construction is done properly with an appropriate handoff meeting, and support as required thereafter to ensure no gaps in coverage occur.
• Support new standard and non standard product due diligence.
• Work with procurement in developing and growing vendor and EPC relationships on a regional basis to ensure market-leading costs are obtained.
• Grow a team to support project pipeline requirements.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of Project Management/Development experience, preferably in the engineering, design, and construction of clean energy (PV and energy storage) and/or utility infrastructure projects.
• 5+ years experience leading interdepartmental teams.
• Experience supporting Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and managing project timelines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and comfort managing, presenting to, and interacting with vendors, consultants, authorities having jurisdiction, and regulatory agencies.
• Task Management focuses on effectively multi-task while keeping others apprised of status with respect to deadlines.
• Ability to identify problems and discrepancies, independently perform research and analysis of causes and solutions, and recommend corrective actions.
• Ability to work on multiple projects across various design, development, and procurement phases.
• Must be detailed and results-oriented with an ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced, and constantly evolving environment as well as flexible hours, as required.
• Team player to work in concert with development, commercial operations, finance/capital markets, engineering, and procurement teams.
• Knowledge of Project Management and Project Engineering Principles.
• Familiarity with medium voltage and low voltage electrical systems and utility requirements.
• Working knowledge and ability to read design drawings and specifications.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other quantitative educational background.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and Project, Adobe Acrobat, and AutoCAD.

Base Salary Range: $165,000- $180,000; Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience.
