BBH will provide you with opportunities to grow your expertise, take on new challenges, and reinvent yourself—without leaving the firm. Our BBH Cares program offers volunteer opportunities to give back to your community and help transform the lives of others.

BBH Capital Partners (BBH CP) is seeking an experienced professional to fill a full-time role as Vice President Portfolio Management. This individual will work with the BBH CP investment teams and portfolio company CFOs and finance teams to coordinate and monitor company-level financial and operating performance across the CP funds.

BBH Capital Partners is the private equity business within Brown Brothers Harriman & Co., the oldest private bank in the United States. Based in New York, BBH CP is a successful and growing private equity franchise with over 30 years of experience investing in lower-middle market businesses based in North America. BBH Capital Partners makes both control and non-control investments in growing lower-middle market companies, and most often invests in owner-operated businesses that have not previously taken institutional capital.

Because BBH Capital Partners frequently works with lower-middle market companies that have not taken institutional capital before, portfolio companies can often benefit from working with outside experts to help improve their financial governance, reporting and processes. The BBH CP VP Portfolio Management will work with BBH CP deal teams and portfolio company CFOs to oversee the timely creation, delivery, and aggregation and analysis of accurate monthly financial reporting across BBH CP portfolio companies. This individual will also work closely with the BBHCP Principals and Co-Managers to identify opportunities to improve processes and use of systems to create timely, high-quality reporting and insights, as well as supporting other strategic efforts, including fundraising, strategic and operational initiatives with portfolio companies, etc.

BBH Capital Partners is currently investing two investment funds, CPVI ($1.2B) and CP Opportunities Fund ($250M) and over-sees investments in 21 portfolio companies. This individual will be a member of the Operational Resources Group (“ORG”) team, and report to the Head of the group, a Managing Director and one of the Co-Managers of the Capital Partners business.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize accounting, tax, and systems expertise to work with portfolio company CFOs and Finance departments to utilize and/or establish standardized monthly financial reporting and operating KPIs to be used by portfolio company C suites, Boards and Capital Partners teams

  • Assist deal teams with assessments of portfolio company Finance teams and Internal responsibilities
  • Work with deal teams on tax planning/considerations for new potential investments, as appropriate
  • Work with BBH Internal Accounting team on portfolio scenario planning
