The VP of Sales will oversee the development and growth of one of Alera Group’s national specialty employee benefits practices (Lumity Brokerage).The role will be directly responsible for building out and managing the Lumity sales team, which includes providing any trainings or skills-mentoring needed, as well as assisting in sales processes. This is a “player-coach” role and will include growing an individual book of business alongside the development of the sales team. The VP of Sales will be responsible for implementing and executing growth strategies to deliver targeted KPIs. The role will also be responsible for representing Lumity to inside stakeholders and outside vendors. This role will report directly to the EVP of Employee Benefits and will be responsible for status updates with their team and Senior Leadership.
Responsibilities:- Recruiting competent new sales staff and building out an exceptional sales team
- Establish specific and measurable goals for the team that align with overall objectives and growth targets
- Monitor, track, and manage the sales team’s performance
- Growing an individual book of business on the Lumity brokerage platform
- Training and development for sales staff. Provide your team with necessary resources and training (e.g., product knowledge, sales training, and communication skills)
- Responsible for the entire sales process, excelling at relationship building and deal closing
- Collaborate with leadership to create strategies and initiatives that address the growth needs
- Develop and deploy clear sales processes and structure to streamline the sales efforts
- Maintain and advance sales forecasting by effective utilization of the project pipeline
- Use data-driven insights for improvement and optimize the sales process continuously
- Foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork across other offices
- Encourage professional development by offering opportunities for skill-building, attending industry events, and providing mentorship
- Maintain an open line of communication with your team and other leaders
- All other duties as assigned
- 10+ years progressive experience in sales and management within technology-based companies
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, within a company focused on growth
- Experience with Health & Welfare Benefits strongly preferred
- Highly motivated, confident, energetic and must possess a positive attitude
- Strong relationship management and the ability to engage and motivate multiple individuals across the organization and at all levels within the company as well
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to apply these skills in either verbal or written form when interacting with various firms, clients, and team members
- Must be resourceful and a creative problem solver – constructively working with team members to find solutions and able to communicate those back
- Availability to travel up to 25%
