UP2US SPORTS is a national service organization that recruits, trains, and supports coaches to transform youth, programs, and communities. Up2Us Sports partners with AmeriCorps, OJJDP, and other community organizations to provide service opportunities for our coach mentors. All Up2Us coach mentors receive Up2Us Training that has acquired a national reputation for excellence.

In addition to our coach mentor program, Up2Us Sports actively trains staff at schools, parks,
and nonprofits in the same SBYD methodology that it provides to its coaches during their service year while continually evaluating and updating our program for success.


ABOUT THE ROLE

The Vice President of Programs will be responsible for implementing all program operations including Up2Us Coach, Up2Us Training, and Up2Us Evaluation.

The ideal candidate is an expert in Sports-Based Youth Development and has managed staff in remote offices across the nation. The candidate knows how to implement strategic programming benchmarks and inspire a team of colleagues and staff to achieve them. The Vice President of Programs will need to create alignment on a program model, program operation style, not just set programmatic goals. The Vice President of Programs must have the ability, either through themselves or through their team structure, to have their eyes on even the most granular details and align the team that's managing their programs. This position reports to the Chief Strategic Officer.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will oversee a team of staff including a Senior National Director, AmeriCorps Programs, National Director, Training, National Director, Research and Evaluation and to accomplish the following:

Explore avenues for strengthening the Up2Us Coach program to make its AmeriCorps model more accessible to youth sports programs that take place in various settings (e.g., schools, parks, community centers), and engage different demographics.


Continue to develop and coach a strong team of National Directors who can effectively manage the programmatic work in a consistent and standardized way.

Collaborate with the National Director of Training to ensure a fully integrated and supported Up2Us Coach training model, as well as design and implement a fee for service model to expand and support our Up2Us Coach program.


Oversee evaluation systems and explore new opportunities to evaluate the programs.

Build relationships with all stakeholders under the Up2Us Sports umbrella by being hands-on and engaging with the community across the various states and locations.

Gain a deep understanding of Up2Us Sports' culture, scope, history, and why it was created before trying to enact change.

Implement new national programming opportunities that can advance the Up2Us Sports mission by engaging unique populations; addressing specific categories of youth (e.g., LGBTQ, girls); and/or advancing SBYD practices in specific settings.

Develop national partnerships with organizations, schools, and sports teams that can expand the Up2Us mission through coach placement or training.

Oversee administrative systems for meeting all reporting on all federal and state AmeriCorps grants including writing progress reports and ensuring that all data is collected and analyzed.

Oversee continuous quality improvement by developing and implementing systems for receiving internal feedback from staff, coaches, and "host sites" (partner organizations who host Up2Us Coaches in their communities).

Participate in strategic planning to help establish future directions for growth including new geographies, program activations, and demographics.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Programming Execution (35%): Setting clear objectives and coordinating the implementation of
programs to ensure successful outcomes and alignment with organizational goals. This includes overseeing program planning, resource allocation, monitoring progress, evaluating effectiveness, and making strategic adjustments as needed to drive optimal results.
Team Leadership (20%): Effectively managing and leading teams and departments within the
portfolio. This includes providing strategic direction, setting goals, and fostering a positive and
productive work culture. Ultimately responsible for building high-performing teams, developing talent, and promoting collaboration and communication among team members. Additionally, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to empower teams to achieve operationalexcellence, drive innovation, and meet organizational objectives.

Community Engagement (25%): Being present and fostering meaningful connections and
partnerships with various stakeholders on both a national and local level. This involves developing strategies and initiatives to actively engage stakeholders to better understand their needs and expectations and create opportunities for feedback and participation. This helps to ensure programs are relevant, impactful, and effectively serve the needs of the community and key stakeholders.
Data + Analysis (10%): Inform evidence-based decision making and drive programmatic improvements. Collaborate with the National Director, Research and Evaluation, to ensure the timely collection, analysis, and interpretation of data related to program outcomes, impact, and performance metrics. This involves utilizing data insights to evaluate program effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven recommendations for programmatic changes and resource allocation.


Operations (10%): Lead efforts to give feedback to program operations to support infrastructure
necessary for successful program execution. This includes walk-around management, managing resources, addressing incidents, coordinating logistics, overseeing timelines, and ensuring efficient processes are in place. The goal is to optimize program delivery, streamline workflows, monitor progress, and address any operational challenges that may arise, ultimately ensuring effective implementation of Programs and the achievement of desired outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of seven years of experience managing a nonprofit or similar organization.

Strong understanding of implementing programs on both a national and local scale.

Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Computer literacy and well-developed technology skills.

Criminal history background checks to include, National Sex Offender Public Registry,

State and FBI checks (the position is contingent on results).

Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent SBYD experience.

This position will require some travel to conferences, retreats, and other work-related events.

COMPENSATION

Salary range: $95-100K annually based on geographical location and experience.
