OVERVIEW:
Rogerson Communities is a mission driven non-profit that focuses on "Senior Living," creating communities where elders thrive. The Rogerson Model incorporates supportive housing and healthcare to help seniors and their families find solutions to aging strong in their community by providing a sense of dignity across all income levels. Often this means finding housing that is affordable. With 30 properties and programs under ownership or management, Rogerson offers every aspect of Senior Living: affordable housing; independent and retirement living; assisted living; memory care; continuing care communities; as well as adult day health programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
The Vice President of Advancement & Marketing will lead a team of fundraising and marketing professionals to advance the mission and vision of Rogerson. He/She will do this by driving innovative development campaigns, amplifying the brand and reputation of Rogerson in the senior living and affordable housing market sectors, managing both internal and external communications programs as well as a centralized marketing department to drive occupancy and census in its programs and residential communities.
He/She will report directly to the CEO of Rogerson and serve on the Senior Management Team (SMT) of the organization. Key responsibilities include:
Advancement
The VP will be devoted to enhancing the importance of philanthropy to the importance of the mission of Rogerson Communities, creating, leading and managing ambitious new development and fundraising goals.
This leadership will include:
- Preparing aggressive annual and long-term plans for financial development, fundraising, endowment, and other strategies to secure, grow and enhance Rogerson's financial leadership in the region.
- Engaging the full support and participation of Board Members in fundraising activities, including the identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.
- Participating personally in the cultivation and solicitation of major gift prospects.
- Defining, creating and managing a Stewardship Program.
- Initiating a Planned Giving program and build awareness for the financial, tax and estate planning benefits for this charitable engagement level giving.
- Developing strategies for producing revenues and collecting fees from affiliate relationships in return for supporting their key fundraising initiatives.
- Actively managing and expanding the deliverables of Rogerson's signature Welcome Home event, including supporting the Board Development Committee in its activities, adding more volunteers, and securing more community engagement.
- Manage Board sub-committees including Development Committee and Branding/Marketing/Communications Committee.
- Guaranteeing all gifts to Rogerson Communities are appropriately, legally, and creatively acknowledged and recorded.
- Preparing periodic and annual reports to the President of Rogerson Communities, the Board of Directors, and others on the effectiveness and achievements of Advancement programs.
CommunicationsManage the consistent messaging of the Rogerson mission, vision and brand. In 2024 this will be dominated by the full realization of the new brand: The Art of Well-Being. It will also include communications to external and internal stakeholders, donors, volunteers, families, government and community agencies, and others.
He/She will manage an internal staff and select contract professionals that include a newly appointed Boston-based advertising agency, an event planner, and other consultants that include but are not limited to PR specialists, designers, writers, photographers, printers and vendors assigned to provide a consistent corporate identity for Rogerson Communities across platforms, materials, social media, special events and venues.
He/She will also:
- Develop an annual executive level communications strategy and plan including measurable objectives, budget, timeline, and programs for implementation.
- Formulate and develop processes, systems and structure for implementing centralized corporate communications across the Rogerson organization while allowing for individual communities to execute specialized efforts.
- Oversee the development, writing and production of corporate communications and publications including the website, annual reports, newsletters, organizational brochures, internal communications and case statements.
- Develop and execute robust and measurable social media, including managing content development and integration with other strategic communications of the organization.
- Manage and support relations with Board Committee on Branding and Communications in support of its activities and contribution to overall Rogerson branding efforts.
Marketing
As part of His/Her Communication responsibilities, He/She will continue the formation of a centralized marketing department to support individual Rogerson sites and programs to achieve occupancy, attendance and sales goals. This will include:
- Collaborating with Executive Directors, Program Directors, and Property Managers to develop marketing plans for Rogerson sites.
- Reporting at quarterly sales and marketing meetings with site teams to monitor and adjust performance objectives and ROI.
- Developing strategies and providing essential insights through market research that ensure Rogerson's leadership position in senior living and affordable living sectors.
- Collaborating on the selection and implementation of a business enterprise level CRM platform to drive lead generation, enhance integrated SEO, and improve strategic and operational efficiencies.
- Supporting and partnering with the Senior Management Team (SMT) of Rogerson Communities to provide nimble response to PR, industry specific and business development requests and outreach.
- Managing the Budgets for the Advancement and Marketing/Communication Departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven track record of success in creating and executing progressive advancement and fundraising programs, innovative communications, and differentiating marketing strategies in philanthropic, non-profit and/or community centric environment.
- Demonstrated specific ability to develop and/or strengthen successful relationships with Board Members, major funders, private and government foundations, clients, residents, civic, community and corporate leaders.
- Proven track record in identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts.
- Demonstrated success in setting and achieving fundraising goals.
- Experience leveraging market research in business, marketing and communication strategy development.
- Proven ability to work as a team as well as operate independently.
- Experience working with and motivating volunteers, employees, staff across generational and education levels.
- Knowledgeable about changing trends in charitable giving, planned giving, philanthropy, donor and board development.
- Knowledge of senior living fee models and subsidized housing programs.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, public speaking, and interpersonal communications.
- Experience in managing public relations, market research and other professional marketing consultants and resources.
- Ability to manage others, multi-task, change gears and pivot.
- Ability to inspire confidence, sensitivity to others, high energy, and capacity for hard work.
- Sound judgment and strategic thinking skills.
- A minimum of seven years in nonprofit advancement/development or a related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience.
