A DAY IN THE LIFE:

We are seeking an innovative and visionary leader, with a diverse commercial background, to fill the role of VP, Global Commercial Excellence. This critical position will be responsible for driving Commercial Excellence across our Global Commercial team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. This senior leader will lead the development and implementation of strategies, processes, and initiatives to optimize commercial performance, unlock new global market opportunities, enhance customer engagement, and drive global revenue growth.

YOU’RE AWESOME AT:

  • Builds, leads, coaches and develops a best-in-class Global Commercial Excellence team to capitalize on commercial performance.
  • In close partnership and collaboration with Regional Sales and Marketing leadership, leads the design and execution of global sales effectiveness programs, including sales training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Develops and implements Global Commercial Excellence strategies to drive business growth and market leadership.
  • Establishes a dynamic commercial innovation cell to efficiently identify and pilot next-generation commercial models and opportunities.
  • Defines and advances Tandem’s value proposition for people with Type 2 Diabetes.
  • Identifies, develops, and provides execution guidance of strategic and operational investments and initiatives required to enable Tandem’s delivery of high-value products and services to people with diabetes on intensive insulin therapy.
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance commercial processes, tools, and systems.
  • Works closely with SVP of International to support evaluation and pursuit of opening new markets, securing OUS market access, optimizing go-to-market, and enhance Customer Experience and Adoption of Tandem Products.
  • Works closely with Tandem SIGI team, formerly AMF Medical, in Switzerland to ensure product is designed and well-positioned to launch into major global markets to serve people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of accretive commercial strategies with product development, marketing, and other commercial functions.
  • Partners with Global Product Marketing to ensure key commercial input is incorporated into product design and go-to market strategy.
  • Defines and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess commercial effectiveness and continually refine and optimize the commercial investment and project mix.
  • Champions an analytical and fact-based approach across the organization, ensuring alignment with customer needs and market trends.
  • In partnership with sales, marketing, and international leadership, provides direction to US and OUS sales teams, fostering a culture of innovation collaboration and performance management.
  • Stays well-informed of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging best practices in Commercial Excellence to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.

EXTRA AWESOME:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or economics preferred; bachelor’s degrees in finance, mathematics, engineering, or related fields will be considered with sufficient commercial experience. MBA strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive commercial experience in sales management, training, market access, marketing, and international business within the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. GM profile preferred.
  • 10+ years of previous leadership or management experience.
  • Extensive direct work experience with launching, delivering commercial products and services, particularly in consumer facing medical devices/pharmaceutical space.
  • Extensive experience in the field of diabetes, with most of the professional commercial background focused on this area.
  • Proven track record of successfully driving disruptive commercial initiatives and delivering results in a global environment.
  • Extensive experience in the field of diabetes, understanding core differences of T1 and T2 diabetes and the current, past and future landscape of pharmacological treatment options and medical devices in market for glucose management.
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to interpret complex data and market insights to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization – skillful facilitation. Leading through influence without direct revenue or P&L authority.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong understanding of global (OUS and US) MedTech markets, including market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and competitive landscapes.
  • Demonstrated and extensive expertise in commercial strategy development, sales leadership, sales training, sales operations, market access, and pricing strategies, ideally in both pharma and med-tech.
  • Proven ability to drive change and lead transformational initiatives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strategic mindset with a focus on innovation, continuous improvement, and driving Commercial Excellence.
  • Ability to travel by car or airplane, domestically and internationally as needed, up to 50% of the time and work after hours if required by travel schedule or business issues.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The starting base pay range for this position is $275,000 - $300,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.

Tandem offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts and flexible saving accounts. You’ll also receive 11 paid holidays per year, a minimum of 20 days of paid time off (starting in year 1) and have access to a 401k plan with company match. Learn more about Tandem’s benefits here!
