Vice President / Assistant Vice President - Center for Inflation Research
Leadership Opportunity:
The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is seeking a Vice President or Assistant Vice President to lead the Center for Inflation Research. The successful candidate will have substantial experience conducting high-quality academic research on inflation and related topics as evidenced by an extensive publication record, expertise in monetary policy, and the ability to improve public understanding of inflation. This individual will supervise and lead a group of Ph.D. economists and report directly to the Director of Research.
Through Assistant Vice Presidents, senior managers and/or managers, applies expert knowledge of the business and industry to drive business results. Oversees all actions related to staff and operations of one or more function. Ensures the consistent execution of business strategies and the advancement of strategic objectives. Actively drives a culture of innovation and an environment of learning, which fosters engagement, risk taking and innovation; and will uphold these values in all of its responsibilities.

Qualifications:
This position requires access to confidential supervisory information and/or FOMC information, which is limited to "Protected Individuals" as defined in the U.S. federal immigration law. Protected individuals include, but are not limited to, U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and U.S. permanent residents who either are not yet eligible to apply for naturalization or who have applied for naturalization within the requisite timeframe. Candidates who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents may be eligible for the information access required for this position and sponsorship for a work visa, and subsequently for permanent residence, if they sign a declaration of intent to become a U.S. citizen and meet other eligibility requirements. In addition, all candidates must undergo an enhanced background check and comply with all applicable information handling rules, and all non-U.S. citizens must sign a declaration of intent to become a U.S. citizen and pursue a path to citizenship.

- Strategically leading the Center for Inflation Research and managing and developing its team of Ph.D. economists.
- Conducting high-quality academic research on inflation and related topics.
- Driving engagement with the public, by managing the Center for Inflation Research's external website presence and conducting outreach.
- Playing a senior role in monetary policy preparations within the Research department prior to meetings of the Federal Open Market Committee.
- Providing leadership in organizing and managing the Center for Inflation Research's annual Inflation: Drivers and Dynamics conference series.
- Elevating the profile of the Center for Inflation Research among researchers, policymakers, and the public.
- Working collaboratively with the other officers of the Research Department in a leadership capacity to actively promote employee engagement, enhance research productivity, and support the policy process.
Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in economics or finance is required. Prior management experience is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated success commensurate with experience in publishing research related to inflation and related topics in top academic journals.
- Experience using a range of analytical and empirical tools and models related to inflation and macroeconomic analysis.
- Ability to provide in-depth advice on matters related to monetary policy.
- Ability to think strategically to elevate the profile of the Center for Inflation Research.
- Capacity to successfully manage and develop a team of Ph.D. economists.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex economics concepts to members of the public through a variety of formats, including in the Bank's Economic Commentary series, through public outlook speeches, and in media interviews.
