Job Description
You will provide support to the doctors by assisting with in-patient/out-patient care, laboratory duties, patient treatments, medication dispensing, surgical and dentistry assisting, medical record notation and maintenance, housekeeping duties, inventory, OSHA awareness and compliance, delivering extraordinary customer service and maintaining a practical knowledge of the hospital's procedures, services and policies.
We are open to full-time and part-time applicants!
Responsibilities:
- Admit patients for in-patient or out-patient procedures
- Perform patient treatments ordered by the attending DVM
- Correctly fill prescriptions written and authorized by a DVM
- Collect and prepare patient samples for laboratory tests, maintain laboratory logs and equipment
- Assist with anesthetic procedures, monitoring, and surgical record-keeping according to protocol
- Maintain hospital sanitation, supplies, medical instruments, and office equipment
Qualifications:
- Experience working in a Veterinary setting
- A calm, compassionate, and reassuring demeanor with the ability to deal with the public and assist distraught clients
- Good organization skills
- Moving animals from cage to cage, floor to floor, room to room.
- Ability to maintain an alertness level to ensure patient safety
- Ability to be prepared and willing to offer assistance and ask for assistance when needed
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and hospital functions
