Job Description
Pet Vet is eagerly looking for full-time Veterinary Technicians and Assistants to care for animals (dogs, cats, and exotics), communicate with clients, and support our Veterinarians. You will play an important role in bringing comfort to our patients and ensuring the smooth running of our facility. You will be interacting with clients regularly in this position, so strong communication skills are important.

Responsibilities
Temp and weigh animals.
Discuss vaccines, medications, lab work, and other recommendations with clients.
Be knowledgeable of preventatives, prescription diets, and rebates that we offer.
Be knowledgeable of medications including what is OTC and what is prescription only.
Clean examination rooms and tables.
Restrain animals during examinations, vaccinations, and various other procedures.
Obtain a thorough and accurate history of the patient.
Soothe upset or frightened animals.
Administer medication prescribed by Veterinarians.
Prepare medications to go home with the patient.
Prepare vaccinations and injectable medications.
Help in cases of emergencies.
Keep accurate records and logs.
Reassure clients that their pets are being cared for and explain issues.
Advise pet owners on nutrition and healthcare.
Keep up with laundry and hospital cleaning.
Replenish stock, being sure to properly rotate by checking expiration dates.
Skills
Licensed technicians - This is a full-service facility providing the highest quality of medicine and surgical care.
Responsibilities include; anesthesia, radiology, lab work, restraint, blood draws, etc.
Veterinary assistants:
Proven experience as a Veterinary Assistant or similar position working with animals is a plus.
Current or former pet ownership is an advantage.
Excellent communication skills.
Patient and caring personality.
Ability to follow instructions properly.
Comfortable being around animals (cats, dogs, birds, reptiles etc.)
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 35 lbs)
Availability to occasionally work in emergencies.
Work efficiently in a team environment
Strong multi-tasking skills
High school diploma; a certificate from a Veterinary Assistant program is a plus
