Veterinary Technician; Medical Care Supervisor
Champaign County Humane Society seeks an experienced Veterinary Technician to supervise the Medical Care staff at its animal shelter.
Primary responsibilities include: (1) Performing medical exams and vaccinations on shelter animals; (2) performing urinalysis, fecal analysis, ear cytology, skin scrapes, FeLV/heartworm testing, xrays, and other procedures on shelter animals; (3) training and supervision of Medical Lab staff, interns, and volunteers; (4) monitoring the treatment schedule for shelter animals; (5) monitoring health of the shelter animal population; (6) overseeing the fostercare program; (7) keeping medical records on shelter animals accurate and current; and (8) assisting with annual review and revision of Medical Lab protocols. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Veterinary technician or equivalent experience; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; organizational skills and attention to detail; prior experience in a supervisory or instructional position is a plus.
This position is full-time and will include some evening and/or weekend hours. Starting pay $16-$18/hour.
