What we’re seeking:
● We are seeking experienced and skilled Veterinary Technicians (CVT’s and non-credentialed considered) to join our emergency team. 1 year of emergency experience or 1-2 years of general practice experience is preferred.
● Technicians serve an essential role in our hospital and provide excellent technical skills. A strong knowledge of emergency procedures and medicine is preferred.
● Our hospital is 24/7/365 and our technicians require flexibility to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Triage and stabilization of incoming emergent patients
- Provide nursing care to critical and stable patients
- Provide timely and proficient treatments and procedures to patients
- Assist ER doctors with exams, treatments and procedures
- Immediately respond to STAT situations and codes. Capable of overseeing patient care and treatments of the critically ill.
- Capable in anesthesia monitoring, surgical prep and surgical monitoring.
- Comfortable and proficient in patient recovery.
- Proficient in venipuncture and IV catheter placement
- Perform in-house laboratory work and diagnostic imaging (including, bloodwork, urinalysis and fecal testing)
- Administer SQ fluids, IV medications and various medical treatments per doctors’ orders.
- Fill medications accurately
- Work collaboratively with doctors and staff to ensure hospitalized patients receive the best possible care and communicate / update the families of patients throughout shift
- Proficient in communication and empathy with clients. Capable of providing comfort to patients as well as their owners
- Comfortable presenting treatment plans with owners and having conversations regarding financial requirements
- Utilize whiteboard software to ensure all treatments are noted and scheduled appropriately
- Recognize subtle change in clinical status of patients and alert doctors promptly to these updates
- Ability to communicate discharge and medication instructions with clients
Compensation:
● Hourly rate $23 - $32 per hour based on experience, credentials, schedule availability and other factors
