Veterinary Technician

Mile Hi Animal Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Technician to join our team! The Mile Hi team, consisting of a 3 Doctor practice, stands out with a strong tenure and a supportive family environment. Our Veterinarians have been with us for 10-25 years, our lead Veterinary Technician for over 15 years, and our longest Veterinary Receptionist for over 9 years.

In our modern facility, we prioritize efficiency, high-quality care, and a comfortable setting, while also embracing modern medicine and compassionate care, extending a warm welcome to colleagues, patients, and clients. Our services include separate cat and dog waiting rooms, acupuncture, herbal therapy, surgical laser, air-driven high-speed dental unit with digital dental radiology, ultrasonography, and in-house lab diagnostics.

Position Overview: The Veterinary Technician supports the hospital by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and extraordinary service to our patients and clients. As a Veterinary Technician, you will fully assist the DVMs and CVTs to help improve the quality of care to the patients by relieving them of technical work and achieving greater efficiency at Mile Hi Animal Hospital.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in determining animal requirements by helping conduct animal examinations, restraining patients, and reviewing care plans and records
• Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering vaccines, providing wound care management, completing laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging
• Assembling required supplies and instruments for procedures
• Fill prescriptions and administer PO, SQ, IM, IV medications, including proper documentation, logging, and security of controlled drugs
• Maintain a safe, secure, healthy and humane environment by following documented standards and procedures in compliance with applicable legal regulations
• Maintain medical records by documenting patients’ conditions, reactions, and changes; updates database in an accurate and timely manner
• Ability to demonstrate and follow procedures in catheter placement and phlebotomy

Qualifications and Skills:

• At least 1 year of experience performing above duties
• Experience with anesthesia monitoring is a plus
• High School Diploma/GED required
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs and calculations
• Able to perform moderately physically demanding work, that requires lifting (up to 50 pounds), cleaning, and constant motion
• Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, zoonotic diseases, and unpleasant odors

Available Schedule: Full-time position, must have schedule flexibility

• We are open: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
• Closed Saturdays and Sundays
