This position is located in the Resource Management and Financial Planning Staff (RMFPS), Office of Field Operations (OFO).
This position serves as a Veterinary Medical Officer, key policy analyst and advisor on matters of Veterinary Medical science and Public Health, that affect the FSIS mission. Serves on or leads workgroups tasked with addressing initiatives that involve critical Veterinary Medical and food safety inspection issues.Qualifications: Please Note: The USDA Policy is to require copies of transcripts from all applicants for positions with a positive educational requirement. Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and education, as defined below.
Time in grade
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade (e.g. one year at the GS-13 grade level for consideration for the GS-14 grade level).
Specialized Experience
- Knowledge of the field of food safety inspection and veterinary medicine as it relates to Public Health.
- Experience cultivating and maintaining relationships with key representatives of academia, and other Federal agencies that employ veterinarians.
- Knowledge of management and organizational principles, theories, techniques, and practices to gather, analyze, and evaluate information concerning the management of program objectives, activities, and achievements.
- Skills and ability to effectively convey ideas, orally and in writing, to management, peers, and outside groups in a wide range of settings.
- Ability to develop plans, goals and objectives for short and long-term program implementation and execution and develop criteria to evaluate overall program efficiencies and effectiveness.
