Overview:
Broad River Animal Hospital is seeking a dedicated, reliable and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing quality care to our animal patients. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a passion for animals and a desire to work in a veterinary setting.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing the gold standard of care to our patients.
- Handle and gently restrain animals during examinations and procedures
- Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas for procedures
- Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian or Veterinary Technician.
- Monitor animal behavior and report any changes or concerns to the veterinary team
- Provide assistance with laboratory tests, including sample collection and analysis
- Maintain accurate records of patient information, treatments, and procedures
- Assist with client communication based on our hospital's recommendations and protocols
Skills:
- Knowledge of veterinary care procedures and protocols
- Experience working with dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments.
-Ability to stand/walk for a substantial part of the work day
- Understanding of animal physiology and behavior
- Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is required
- Must have a genuine love for animals and a desire to provide excellent care
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with a team-oriented approach
