Duties/Tasks of a Veterinary Assistant
- Assist our Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT) and DVMs with appointments
- Gather proper patient histories
- Safely and professionally restrain/hold patients
- Know and use standard medical/business abbreviations
- Follow OSHA standards
- Be familiar with zoonotic diseases and common parasites
- Clean rooms and other areas
- Assist in surgery with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery
- Complete paperwork for our RVT and DVMs
- Perform all tasks in an efficient and timely manner
- Assist in radiology
- Assist with in-house lab tests
- Able to comfort our clients when End of Life discussions occur
- Help promote a positive culture
