Veterinary Assistant

San Juan Veterinary Hospital is looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team! We are a mixed animal hospital proudly serving beautiful southwestern Colorado.

Individuals with 3+ years of prior veterinary experience and excellent communication skills are highly encouraged to apply.

This is a full-time or part-time, Monday-Friday role (4-10s) with weekends off.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of current, hands-on veterinary experience (mixed animal experience is a plus!)
• Takes pride in being punctual, dependable, and reliable
• Self-starters who take initiative and pay close attention to detail
• Compassionate team players who have excellent communication skills
• Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs
• Passion for veterinary medicine

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Taking patient histories
• Assisting in exams
• Anesthesia monitoring
• Injection and medication administration
• Gentle patient restraint
• Pharmacy duties
• Blood draws
• IVC placement
• Outpatient procedures
• General hospital cleaning
• Client service and communication
• Assisting the front desk as needed
