This position is in Cargill’s agricultural supply chain business, where we seamlessly connect farming customers with food, feed and industry.Job Overview As a Vessel Coordinator, you will organize Nova International Shipping vessel operations at export facilities in the United States Gulf.  You will make effective plans/decisions from vessel appointment to sailing; and coordinate daily activities with vessel owners/operators, terminals, vendors, United States Government agencies and Nova boarding agents to ensure vessels are operated in an effective, timely and cost-efficient manner.  Job Purpose and Impact The Vessel Coordinator will evaluate complex and varied distribution and transportation operations, data and facilities to identify the most effective distribution and execution of vessel port calls. In this role, you will conduct data management, reporting and analysis, shipping, client interaction, business partnership and people, resource, budget and project management.Key Accountabilities •    Organize vessel operations with vessel owner, operator and terminals; provide proactive, timely communication with vessel owners, operators, terminals, charterers, ship’s crew and government entities; make effective decisions on how best to manage vessels while in port to reduce risk, cost and time in port; and ensure Federal, State and local government regulations and requirements are met.  •    Coordinate vessel attendance with Nova Boarding Agents to ensure efficient vessel operations; ensure arrangements for vessel operations are organized proactively and timely including: pilots, tugs, launches, hold cleaning services and cash to master; ensure all vessel documentation meets government requirements and Cargill accounting standards.•    Maintain strong working relationships and provide best in class service to Cargill OT vessel operators/desk heads, and outside vessel owners/operators; maintain relationships with terminal personnel and Trade Execution staff to ensure an open line of communication; develop and maintain vendor relationships to obtain vessel services at preferential pricing and service levels.•    Generate port cost estimates, and ensure adequate funding to cover vessel expenses while in port; assist Cargill accounting personnel in the collection of funds from, and provide accurate services to vessels owners and operators.•    Use significant knowledge of the shipping and logistics industry to make recommendations to establish good customer relations. .•    Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.•    Other duties as assignedQualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS•    Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3+ years of experience in the maritime industry OR 5+ years of experience in the maritime industry.•    Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).•    Willing and able to work varied hours, weekends and holidays.  •    Willing and able to climb ladders and vessel gangways.•    Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain an operational driver’s license.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS•    Bachelor’s degree from a Maritime Academy•    Experience working varied hours, weekends and holidays.•    Experience working in a maritime environment.•    Demonstrated communication skills (written and verbal,) and ability to work in a team environment.•    Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills.•    Demonstrated ability to manage time and multiple priorities appropriately.Equal Opportunity Employer, including Disability/Vet.
