The Vertex Internship Program offers students the opportunity to learn about the pharmaceutical industry from a hands-on perspective. You will be working closely with and learning from some of the brightest people in the industry. Not only will interns learn about their day-to-day tasks through their specific work assignments, but they will interact and have exposure to our organizational leaders and their teams.
Job Summary:
The Statistical Programming Group is looking for an Intern to to build a reusable R template/platform that facilitates certain routine tasks conducted by the Statistical Programming group. These tasks will include to continue and complete Clinical Study Report outputs using R code. By the end of the internship, the generated R template or R Shiny app will be presented to the Statistical Programming group. The QA Team will compare the outputs produced by the R programming with the corresponding outputs from the study team to see if they are matched or not.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Create templates from scratch or by translating an already available R program or another program that works with R.
  • Key features of templates will include, but are not limited to, CSR outputs for some domains produced by R, and facilitating a side-by-side comparison between R summaries and corresponding SAS outputs.
  • Key features will include, but are not limited to, a dynamic app produced by R/R Shiny from raw data. This App will generate all AE outputs and facilitating a side-by-side comparison between R summaries and corresponding SAS outputs.
  • Key features will include, but are not limited to, a dynamic app produced by R/R Shiny, This App all outputs for Pulmonary Exacerbations using R, and facilitating a side-by-side comparison between R summaries and corresponding SAS outputs.

  • This template is expected to be reused across multiple projects.
  • Present the work and findings to the Statistical Programming group in August.
  • Summarize the work and create a user guide for future users.
  • Consider presenting this project to a broader audience at departmental seminars, company poster sessions, and/or external conferences, such as JSM.
  • This work can be extended.

Qualifications:
We are looking for a student pursuing a Biostats, Computer Science or other degree with strong R programing skills and experience. Ideally the candidate with have some knowledge of clinical trials, especially as it relates to standardized clinical data (using CDISC standards). The ideal candidate would have a previous Summer Internship working for a pharmaceutical, biotech or contract research organization (CRO)
