Providence Ventures is expanding its team and is hiring a Venture CapitalSenior Associate to join our team. The candidate will have the opportunity to obtain significant direct investment experience as part of a top healthcare Venture Capital firm. The candidate will work closely with senior investment team members at PV and be responsible for tasks that span the investment lifecycle.

The Senior Associate role is intended to be a career track role for candidates with a strong passion for healthcare investing and commensurate prior experience in the industry. PV has a lean and flat team structure that provides growth opportunities for exceptional performers.

Founded in 2014, PV is a healthcare Venture Capital firm with $300 million in assets under management. Our team focuses on investing in opportunities that leverage technology to solve the biggest problems in healthcare in a differentiated and scalable way. Of note, our anchor LP is Providence, one of the largest integrated delivery networks in the United States (however, we are not a CVC). This strategic platform has laid fertile ground upon which we have built a robust health system network, unique understanding of the top pain points across the patient journey, high-performing portfolio, and deep stakeholder engagement model pre- and post-investment. To date, PV has partnered with 27 companies across a wide range of profiles. Categories include chronic disease management, data interoperability, patient financial assistance, and clinical decision support, while customer markets span provider organizations, payors, employers, and pharma. Our team consists of professional investors each with a combination of institutional investing expertise and deep experience across healthcare sub-sectors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Sourcing new investment opportunities through research and meetings with founders and entrepreneurs
  • Perform due diligence such as: customer and management references, market sizing and mapping, and industry research, competitive analysis and ultimately forming a viewpoint on the investment opportunity. Interface with key strategic partners, including PV’s strategic LP base.
  • Develop detailed financial models related to venture and growth financing events, private equity recapitalizations, valuation analyses, and liquidity events.
  • Craft investment memoranda and presentation materials for the partnership, to include developing and refining presentation themes, data gathering and synthesis, and constructing professional presentation materials. Support new deal structuring, including term sheet negotiation.
  • Work with portfolio companies to enhance operations and performance, report on portfolio company’s performance and supporting them on ad hoc projects. This role may include participation on portfolio company Boards.
  • Create processes and infrastructures to help ensure long term scalability of both the team and portfolio companies.
  • The role will include travel and participation in industry events where they are capable of representing Providence Ventures and building our network of collaborators and partners.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, or Related Field
  • An MBA or similar Master's level degree (preferred)
  • 2 years of prior investment (Venture Capital, Growth Equity, or Private Equity) experience
  • 2 years of experience in the healthcare industry, particularly Digital Health and Healthcare Services (preferred)
  • Candidates should be proficient in a variety of valuation techniques and financial modeling scenarios
  • This role requires strong communication, quantitative, writing, and analytical skills alongside the ability to work independently with attention to detail
  • Must demonstrate advanced proficiency with computer applications especially with all MS applications. Familiarity with research/CRM tools, such as Affinity, Pitchbook, or other similar systems
  • Candidates should be hard-working and enjoy being part of a lean team, including the ability and willingness to thrive in an environment which required handling multiple projects at any given time
  • An ideal candidate will have a strong background or demonstrated passion for healthcare.
