SUMMARY

 

Provide leadership and direction for Vehicle Maintenance staff; responsible for scheduling of manpower and resources associated with the maintenance of all stationary, rolling and motorized equipment, generators and APU’s owned and operated by the company. As a customer focused organization, a crucial part of each employee’s job is to get and keep guests.

 

Duties and Responsibilities are (but not limited to):

 

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Hires, motivates, evaluates, and directs staff to ensure adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established goals and objectives. Ensures that all employees receive the training, support, guidance, feedback and resources necessary.
  2. Directs the establishment of departmental standards, guidelines and objectives and maintains other administrative processes such as budgeting and staffing to ensure proper planning, efficient operation of departments and successful achievement of resort goals.
  3. Maintains and enhances a guest focused culture in all areas of responsibility.
  4. Maintains schedules in compliance with regulations and authorities having jurisdiction; manages responsibilities in compliance with resort safety policies.
  5. Maintains current status on legal issues and technological advances which impact the industry; maintains awareness of scope and progress of competition.
  6. Effective communication skills with all levels of employees, guests and all other outside contacts.
  7. Ability to delegate responsibility, motivate and lead direct reports to achieve goals and objectives.
  8. Familiarity with state and federal environmental standards and OSHA regulations.
  9. Understanding of corporate and resort specific policies and procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 

  1. Schedule all employee shifts and coordinate daily operations of department.
  2. Supervise hiring, disciplinary actions, employee evaluations and other personnel functions.
  3. Responsible for payroll and other computer-related duties.
  4. Sets goals and objectives as they pertain to vehicle maintenance and ensures that goals are reached.
  5. Develops a total maintenance program for all vehicles and develops yearly maintenance budget based on those needs.
  6. Ensures that material inventories are updated and accurate.
  7. Oversees the training of all personnel.
  8. Ensures that the shop is equipped with safety equipment and all employees are trained in the use of that equipment.
  9. Ensures that all records (work order forms, etc.) are kept with appropriately detailed information.
  10. Contribute to team effort by participating in Job Sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
  11. Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate supervisor.
  12. Flexible working hours.


RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY
 

  1. Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort guests at all times.
  2. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
  3. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
  4. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
  5. Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others.
  6. Drive in accordance with the law and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort policies.
     

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 4-5 employees in the Vehicle Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or at least three - five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have previous experience operating, maintaining and repairing diesel engines and equipment.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as pressures, weights, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Resort certification on any necessary equipment.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
