Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Lansing Grand River Assembly on a full-time basis.
The Role:
The Vehicle Electrical Systems Manager leads the team responsible for all things related to manufacturing Electrical Systems at the vehicle assembly plant. The key responsibility is to support the plant in achieving its all-in electrical quality metrics (Electrical First Time Quality (EFTQ), Direct Run Rate (DRR) & Warranty). This role leads the plant’s efforts to produce vehicles that are free of electrical defects by executing the Electrical Bill of Operations (BoO) and “building quality in station”.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Lead an integrated, technical organization consisting of members from Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier Quality and Product Development organizations focused on problem solving the plant’s top external and internal quality problems
Drive all electrical problems to resolution, including plant defects and engineering-related issues
Establish and maintain the Electrical BoO for the plant
Take ownership of electrical quality processes for both launching and steady-state vehicle programs
Run weekly and daily reports measuring plant electrical quality
Report out weekly to plant leadership (staff and operations meeting) on status of Electrical quality metrics and top plant controllable issues.
Lead the resolution of Electrical Supplier Quality and ergonomic issues affecting the assembly plant
Ensure consistent and fair usage of Supplier Practical Problem Solving system, cost recoveries, and Supplier Performance Reviews to improve wire harness and module supplier performance
Develop and train engineers in the Electrical Team
Model and foster desired core values and behavior
Additional Description
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Quality system knowledge of processes in manufacturing
Experience in both production and quality
High level of interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and facilitate others in group situations
Ability to manage people
Experience working in a team environment
Experience with electrical architectures
Ability to work non-core extended hours based on the business need
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
5 years of experience in electrical manufacturing processes
Vehicle program launch experience
Electrical engineering background
Leadership experience
