Prime Responsibilities:
The VDI Migration Coordinator will handle all aspects of migrating 1600+ users of Win10 VDIs to Win11 in a phased rollout. This includes generating deployment tickets for Win11 VDIs, communicating with users to transition their work by a specific deadline, reminders, follow up communications thereof, assistance to users encountering issues, level 1/ level 2 technical troubleshooting, assistance with getting non-standard software/licensing transferred to the new VDI, interface with software asset / license admins as needed, maintain a tracking spreadsheet and reporting to management on project progress and most importantly ensuring that users release their Win10 VDIs in a timely fashion so that capacity can be reclaimed for deploying Win11 VDIs for the subsequent batches of migrations

Migrate 1600+ Windows 10 Virtual Desktop (persistent VDI) users to a newly deployed Windows 11 VDI environment.
Project Duration: through 2024
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate a phased migration of users in batches of 50 – 100 from Win10 to Win11 VDIs.
  • Learn and utilize the internally built VDI deployment procedures to deploy Win11 VDIs
  • Communicate to users with a timeframe for transitioning from their Win10 VDI to Win11
  • Provide first-level technical support to end-users, addressing VDI connectivity issues. Respond to support requests via phone, email, or ticketing system. Utilize remote desktop tools to provide assistance to users.
  • Review non standard software products present on their existing Win10 VDIs, and assist with installation on the new VDI / license transition with appropriate application owner teams.
  • Ensure users complete the transition in a stipulated period time, and reclaim the Win10 VDs for retirement.
  • Learn and utilize the internally built procedures for retiring VDIs and reclaiming the hosting resources.
  • Work with other IT teams and management to resolve any systemic impediments faced by users in the transition, to ensure timely progress of the project.
  • Provide management periodic reports of project status
  • Create and maintain a tracking system (database/spreadsheet) to manage the progress of the project
  • Maintain communications with Help Desk, create technotes / FAQ documentation as needed for the end user audience and Help Desk / support staff audience

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of overall IT experience supporting a Windows environment
  • Prior experience working with a Citrix DaaS / XenDesktop environment in the capacity of an Administrator, Engineer, Project manager etc
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service, ensuring a positive and professional experience for end-users.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing system
  • Highly organized and detail oriented approach to work
