VA/VE Engineer

By joining JAC Products as a Resident Engineer you can experience our unique culture firsthand. In this position, you will work with Sales, Purchasing and the Manufacturing sites to provide Product Engineering support to assigned manufacturing facilities. After product launch you will own the Product Engineering and associated Program Management for current production, service products and components.      

Primary Responsibilities:      

• Responsible for Product Engineering in direct support of the manufacturing operations for all post launch products/components produced at the assigned plant(s) and as directed by the Plant Engineering Manager and the Resident Engineering Manager.  
• Organize and facilitate VAVE workshops for programs approaching gate 6.  Responsible for the initiation and ownership of the RFQ process for all VAVE changes resulting from these workshops.
• Identify product risks/opportunities and put in place corrective and/or neutralizing actions when necessary. Escalate and follow up as appropriate.
• Function as the main point of contact for customer and internal design change requests.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:      

• Advanced technical knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding, aluminum extrusion, roll forming, fabrication, finishing, adhesives, and product assembly. 
• Advanced knowledge and practical application of problem solving skills and process improvement analysis tools and techniques (ex. Statistics, D.O.E., Six Sigma).
• Ability to create or modify test methods to simulate real world conditions and specific failure modes.
• Knowledge of advanced product quality planning (APQP)
• Must be customer focused and have excellent follow through in managing projects
• Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Qualifications and Requirements:       

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent required
• 3 or more years of experience in production and product development environment.
• 1-2 years of experience leading cross functional teams, major development activities or cost reduction initiatives. 
• Problem solving using design of experiments and statistical modeling
