A Brief Overview
Ensures efficient daily operations of the Vascular Department. Assigns resources as needed. Assists the manager in conducting special project and duties.
What you will do
  • Performs all vascular tests.
  • Positions and transfers the patients.
  • Select proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
  • Assists physician in administering procedure.
  • Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients.
  • Secures and returns supplies, film, linen, medicine, and patient folders.
  • Consults with others to obtain a complete clinical history and gathers pertinent clinical data.
  • Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
  • Maintains an orderly, safe and clean working environment.
  • Assists in allocating personnel to satisfy workload demands in the most efficient and effective manner possible.
  • Performs scheduled Quality Assurance testing activities required by State, Federal and Local regulatory agencies. These testing activities are to be performed as outlined in the Radiation Physicist Quality Assurance Manual.
  • Prioritizes daily work schedule to most effectively process patients requiring vascular services. Prioritizes patient based on clinical indications and physician referrals.
  • Ensures that vascular services have ample supplies and materials needed to operate on a daily basis. Orders and maintains standard supplies for department.
  • Ensures that all regulatory requirements for vascular are met and documents. Follows up and implements changes on deficiencies. Displays full knowledge of vascular regulations.
  • Communicates equipment problems or concerns to Manager or Administrative Director. Makes service calls as needed. Presents documentation to Manager/Director for processing for payment.
  • Assists in conducting and monitoring special projects or audits.
  • Clinically instructs and observes students in Vascular Technique.
  • Conducts in-services with staff regarding departmental quality control operations.
  • Assists in complying with Federal and State regulations, codes and inspections.
  • Participates on various committees including department quality control and radiology Performance Improvements. Provides valuable input when possible.
  • Suggests cost containment efforts which maximize department effectiveness and image.
  • Develops and suggests implementation and monitors new procedures and protocols to enhance department operations.
  • Participates in department in-service education efforts and attend seminars and conferences on issues pertaining to department operations.
  • Differentiates anatomical abnormalities and report to vascular surgeon or interventional radiologist.
  • Differentiates vascular abnormalities by identifying subtle changes of sound.
  • Protects self and patients from injury through careful observation.
  • Demonstrates ability to recognize priorities and deals with them promptly.
  • Incorporates physiological and developmental ago of patients into overall plan for delivery of care.
  • Utilizes vascular reporting system.
  • Utilizes the PACS system.
  • Provides on-call coverage as necessary per needs of the Department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains accreditation, licensing, and continuing education credits as maintained by State and Federal regulations.
  • Responsibilities may require and adjusted work schedule, overtime and evening/weekend hours in order to meet the operational needs of the Department and/or the Hospital.
  • Responsibilities will require the ability to read, write and rationally comprehend the English language.
  • Must be able to work effectively as member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that quality service is provided to clients and physicians.
  • Utilizing any or all Hospital provided equipment and/or safe work procedures: employees shall be required to lift all objects as is practicable.
  • The employee must be able to perform the physical requirements of this job, including but not limited to standing, walking, lifting, reaching with arms and hands, climbing, balancing. Must be able to stoop, kneel and/or crouch.
  • Places dirty linens in appropriate bins on a daily basis.
  • Establishes and maintains a good rapport with all members of the Radiology Department.
  • Handles telephone information requests with courtesy, accuracy and respect of confidentiality.
  • Channels suggestions, criticisms and questions to appropriate person.
  • Regularly assists other personnel.
  • Performs duties in an independent manner with little need for direct supervision.
  • Attends all staff meetings.
  • Observes Hospital policy concerning Fire and Safety regulations, Infection Control Standards, smoking regulations, telephone usage and other rules governing conduct.
  • Maintains and respects confidentiality.
  • Complies with hospital dress codes by wearing ID badge, required uniform, footwear, and maintains professional appearance.
  • Complies with hospital workplace standards, including those in regard to conduct, actions, or language that may be offense to patients or visitors.
  • Maintains professionalism at all times, especially in patient areas.
  • Demonstrates commitment to own work schedule by adhering to attendance standards.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills. Has legible handwriting and displays positive business demeanor.
  • Utilizes time in an effective manner.
  • Reports any suggestions or positive changes to supervisor.
  • Shows appropriate respect and professionalism to patients, co-workers, supervisors and physicians.
  • Refers unsolved problems to appropriate person.
  • Cross-trains on all position duties to ensure high levels of productivity, increase work flows, and achieve high levels of patient satisfaction.
  • Recognizes duties that need to be performed although not directly assigned; assists other personnel.

Education Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in Ultrasonography Required

Experience Qualifications
  • 1-3 years 1-3 years Vascular or Ultrasound tech. Preferred and
  • less than 1 year Candidate must have a strong background in medical/business organization, database management, medical terminology, knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding. Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office, Windows, Excel, and Internet Applications; knowledge of IDXRAD preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and knowledge of HIPPA regulations are required.

Licenses and Certifications
  • RDMS or RVT certified or eligible, but must Obtain with one year of hire within 1 Year Required
