JOB SUMMARY
Provide safe and effective patient care for patients vascular disease, utilizing the acceptable care standards in accordance with policies and procedures at both WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals, and professional ACR and ARRT standards. Radiologic Technologists are accountable for the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures as required by the Medical Staff in the diagnosis and/or treatment of patient illness.
EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program, Specialty registry in discipline preferred (i.e. CT, US, MRI, Nuc Med, CVT).
LICENSURE
Current licensure by the State of West Virginia as a Radiologic Technologist and registered by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
EXPERIENCE
1-3 years experience as a technologist in a hospital setting preferred. (Previous hospital experience in area of specialty preferred.)
CERTIFICATION
BLS certification within 60 days of employment.
COMPUTER/TYPING/MATH SKILLS
Basic clerical duties required.
Basic understanding of Health Information System as it pertains to modality.
JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Must possess good verbal/written communications skills.
Must be able to communicate basic technical and medical information with patients in a way that is understandable.
Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists.
Certification in specialty area preferred but not required.
Serve as the Radiologic Technologist for Vascular based procedures.
Perform the scrub role as it pertains to Vascular based procedures.
Perform the monitor roll as it pertains to Vascular based procedures.
Transport patients to and from the Cath Lab department.
Pull arterial and venous sheaths after training/competency.
