Job Description The Head Coach for varsity Boys Tennis will be responsible for:
1:1To serve under the Athletic Director as a coach in an assigned sport with responsibilities for the following:
1:1.1Conducting practices within the legal dates and rules as outlined by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association, including assurance that the athletes have had an approved physical examination before the start of any practice season.
1:1.2Selecting players who will be an asset and an example in the representation of the Fairhaven Public Schools; Allowing only members in good scholastic and social standing to participate in interscholastic sports.
1:1.3Securing the approval of the Director for holding of any contest or practice with outside teams.
1:1.4Keeping proper equipment check lists for the accounting of all equipment and related materials.
1:1.5Supervising the neatness and cleanliness of supply rooms and locker rooms.
1:1.6Arranging for the proper acquisition of supplies and materials, including the reconditioning of equipment and the ordering of new equipment and supplies.
1:1.7Working with the Principal and Athletic Director to establish practice times which would allow the coach to be responsible for the proper supervision of players in the locker rooms as well as on the practice filed (court, etc.)
1:1.8Properly treating and handling of injuries including the making out of accident reports, insurance reports and referral to the proper authorities.
1:1.9Assisting the Director in the preparation of budgetary materials for the conduct of each coached sport.
1:1.10Arranging with the Director for the selection and awarding of letters, insignias, honors and certificates as established under approved school, MIAA or League processes/regulations.
1:1.11Attending all sport related league (SCC) pre-season and post-season meetings, representing FHS, its interests and its programs.
The Head Coach must be available Monday- Friday 2-6 pm, and Saturdays, but longer hours and travel will also be required. Flexibility to adjust to scheduling changes, weather delays etc. is highly desirable. A qualified candidate should have prior, sport-specific coaching experience, but it is not required.
