Desired Qualifications:

• Certified teacher preferred
• Shows demonstrated skill in identifying and treating sports related injuries
• Two years of successful experience as a coach in the respective sport preferred
• Experience in high school or college sport preferred
• Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Performance Responsibilities:

• Teaches sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic, personal responsibility, and competitiveness to all student-athletes.
• Properly plan the teaching of the sports specific skills of the sport
• Provide proper instruction, such as teaching student athletes the rules and correct skills and strategies of the sport
• Ability to warn parents and student athletes of the inherent health risks of the sport
• Provide a safe physical environment
• Provide adequate and proper equipment
• Assess and match student athletes appropriately
• Supervise all aspects and locations of the sport, such as games, practices, and other team activities
• Provide appropriate emergency assistance (First Aid and CPR certified)
• Attend required meetings, keep abreast of MHSAA policies regarding the sport, and be familiar with MHSAA eligibility and contest regulations
• Attends all games in which team participates
• Will be a role model for student athletes during practice and games
• Will present a positive image for the school and the team through his/her behavior and appearance
• Will follow and enforce all Montabella and MHSAA policies and rules
• Reports to Athletic Director
