Description
The Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings, and Construction (HBC) is looking for a qualified candidate tolead the department in fulfilling its mission to protect the life and property of the citizens of theCommonwealth through educational, licensing, plan review, permitting, and compliance programs.
HBC'soversight includes the following industries: construction, plumbing, boiler, HVAC, electrical, elevator,manufactured housing, hazardous materials, sprinkler/fire alarm, and building inspection. The departmentemploys over 240 employees who work throughout the Commonwealth with its central office located in Frankfort,Kentucky.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsible for the overall administration of the department.
Directs and oversees all department activities and personnel.
Represents the department at legislative hearings, on specialized task forces, in meetings with otherstate and federal agencies, congressional representatives, local officials and the general public.
Ensures compliance with agency policies, federal and state laws and regulations.
Ensures efficient and effective use of state and federal funds.
The preferred candidate for this position will be a professional leader with the following qualifications:
Experience in leadership
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
