This team: EnergyCAP's Design and User Experience Team follows a user-focused design process to take features from concept to implementation. Our team of UX generalists works collaboratively to solve problems for customers trying to make a real-world impact on how they manage their energy consumption. The Design and User Experience Team is part of the Technology Division. Our core values are teamwork, impact, accountability, integrity and innovation.

Position type: Full-time, exempt

Location: The position is located in our Boalsburg, PA office. Employees may work in the office full-time or choose a mix of remote/in-office work. Two days/week must be spent in the office.

Key responsibilities:

• Collaboratively brainstorm and design innovative solutions to complex problems as a member of EnergyCAP’s Design and User Experience team
• Work closely with the product owner to generate ideas and develop options for new application features and product enhancements
• Work closely with all members of the Design and User Experience Team to develop high-quality and practical designs
• Analyze customer usage and patterns to determine solutions with the best user experience
• Help the team interpret and understand user feedback and provide input for the optimal user experience and UI design based on that feedback
• Collaborate with team members and the marketing department on graphic assets, UI components, and design patterns
• Present designs to employees and EnergyCAP’s development teams, record feedback, and adjust designs as appropriate
• Contribute to requirements and functional specifications
• Work as an integrated member of a product development team
• Provide regular feedback in an Agile lifecycle regarding design improvements

Required experience and skills:

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in design, computer science, information systems, engineering, or another technology-related field (or equivalent experience)
• 2+ years of experience in user interface design or front-end software development – preferred
• Prior experience working with or designing for JavaScript frameworks – preferred
• Proficient designing user interfaces using tools such as Sketch and Figma – preferred
• Experienced designing web-based applications/solutions
• Experienced translating requirements into actionable designs
• Experienced documenting UI specifications for software development
• Resilient — thrives in a fast-paced environment requiring rapid deliverables under tight deadlines that can unexpectedly change
• Proven storyteller — capable of explaining the “why” behind every design decision
• Can lead design discussions delivering critical thoughts and opinions respectfully
• Effective collaborator — capable of working with cross-functional teams through the duration of the design process (from researching to ideating all the way to spec handoff)
• Demonstrates attention to detail as portrayed in quality of designs and technical specifications
• Displays strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes
• Resourceful—able to track down answers independently through self-discovery even when faced with ambiguity
• Curious — must learn about the energy and sustainability management industries in order to understand the needs of the customers we support
• Well-versed in the reality that business needs and technical limitations must guide design direction

Pay range: $70,000 to $75,000, plus bonus. Pay is commensurate on a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
