One year experience in water plant operation supplemented by specialized training in water-wastewater technology, electronics, controls systems or electrical technology. Possession of a valid Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Class SC sanitary collections and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Class C water systems operator certifications are highly desirable and required within 36 months of hire.

Candidates without a current commercial driver's license or MPCA Class SD and MDH Class D certifications are encouraged to still apply. The City of Savage is willing to train.

Position Summary

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, maintain and repair water and utility system facilities and equipment.
- Conduct daily inspections and maintain records and reports.
- Assure proper function of plants and related equipment.
- Perform minor or routine repairs on pumps, motors, engines, valves and related equipment and machinery.
- Troubleshoot and resolve routine problems.
- Perform preventative maintenance on the water distribution system and other facility equipment.
- Perform snow, ice, and sand removal.
- Operate various light to heavy equipment as assigned.
- Adhere to safety standards, policies, practices, and procedures.
- Provide services in accordance with government standards.
- Prepare and submit required records and reports.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in construction, maintenance, and repair work and high school diploma or GED equivalency; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work.
- Possession of or ability to obtain a valid MPCA Class SD and MDH Class D certifications within 18 months after hire.
- Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of Minnesota.
- Obtain a Class B Minnesota Commercial Driver's license with tanker and air brake endorsements within six months after hire.
