Job Summary
Incumbents in this position are responsible for working with NC811 by locating water and sewer utilities for CFPUA and assisting in the repair and maintenance of the water and wastewater system as needed.
Essential Job Functions
- Marking and locating all CFPUA utilities including water, sewer lines, meters, cleanouts, etc.
- Utilize and maintain equipment such as GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) CST (Berger Metal Detector) RD (Radio Detection-cable/pipe locator) for marking utilities.
- Responds to all emergency tickets daily.
- Assists construction crews with emergency water and sewer repairs.
- Works with 811 for location of lines.
- Responsible for reading and understanding utility plans and as-built drawings pertaining to assignments.
- Completes locate requests generated in 811 data bases for location of water and sewer lines.
- Establishes safe work zones, including traffic control devices; flags traffic as needed.
- Responds to emergency situations.
- Schedules morning and evening routes.
- Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment.
- Assists in the maintenance of equipment and supply inventory.
- Operates job specific tools and equipment.
- Completes any paperwork required for the completion of a project.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Six (6) months of Utility Locator work experience or any related work field.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid State of North Carolina driver's license.
- This position will be placed on an On-Call rotation that requires a response within 30 minutes of notification.
