Job Description
On-site and remote part-time/full-time positions are available. Reporting to the Director of Utility Services & Customer Experience, the Utility GeospatialAsset Analyst will play a critical role in helping to improve the safety and reliability of National Critical Infrastructure by acting as the subject matter expert regarding utility asset management for clients. Much of the work will be performed independently on a computer to remotely inspect and identify electric utility assets and equipment.
Essential Functions
- Conduct thorough condition assessment inspections of a variety of utility assets including transmission, distribution, and/or substation facilities per detailed requirements
- Inspect, categorize, and organize different image types using various internal and OTS software applications
- Utilize Company software to set up and maintain projects, catalog information, and identify faults and high-priority system defects.
- Identify and record safety and reliability conditions for transmission or distribution of electric utility assets that could impact safety or system reliability, such as low conductors, damaged equipment, and ground clearances that present a danger of imminent harm, visually hazardous conditions, as captured via RGB, LiDAR and/or Thermal data collection.
- Generate custom reports of inspection results, quality assurance reports, and other related customer information.
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and associated software to produce, display, and analyze geographic information. Create, and manipulate Shape, KMZ, and/or KML files to support mission planning, business development, flight operations, and/or customer reporting.
- Create, organize, manipulate, and/or retrieve GIS data for reporting analysis, and customer presentation purposes.
- Work directly with LiDAR data processing teams to generate reports, identify analysis deficiencies against customer requirements, and conduct photogrammetry.
- Maintain a working knowledge of how to conduct aerial land surveys and aerial utility inspections.
Required Skills/Experience
- Must have at least 2 years of utility experience with performing asset management and condition assessments for a variety of utility assets including transmission, distribution, and substation facilities.
- Previous experience or understanding of working with SHAPE/KML/KMZ files and demonstrable ability to create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting, analysis, and customer presentation purposes.
- Must have demonstratable proficiency with Microsoft Software Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Demonstrates high critical thinking and reasoning skills and strong attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment that requires the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Thrives in a remote, independent environment, excellent self-management, and planning skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and can articulate needs and requirements in a collaborative nature with team members.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- PMP or PMI
- Certified thermographer level 1 or higher
- Electrical Lineman training and/or experience a plus
