Town of Ipswich seeks qualified candidates for the full-time, union position of Utilities Customer Service Clerk.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answers incoming phone calls, emails, or written correspondence and provides face-to-face Customer Service at payment window
- Resolves customer questions and concerns in a timely, efficient and professional manner; satisfies customer expectations by maintaining a clear, consistent standard aligned with Department guidelines and regulatory policies
- Processes customer payments received in person, by mail, lockbox and/or online; downloads lockbox and on-line payments to be prepared for processing
- Maintains customer accounts by processing information changes, adding and closing accounts, scheduling meter changes and readings, processing final bills, researching and resolving customer issues and inquiries, and performing other related duties
- Adds new meter deposits to database and payout deposits on final bills
- Receives outage reports and dispatches crews accordingly
- Opens, maintains, and closes cash drawer in accordance with applicable policies and procedures
- Collects and distributes mail and interoffice communication; performs courier service between Town Hall and the Utilities Department and local bank deposit daily
- Maintains hardcopy and digital files
- Types, files, collates and provides other administrative assistance, as necessary
- Orders office supplies, as required
