Job Summary
The User Experience Designer innovates and develops user-centered product experiences aimed at simplifying communication and allowing people to connect. This role involves thorough research, design, prototyping, and testing of new digital experiences that will shape the future of Sorenson products. As an integral part of the UX Design team, you will work closely with various stakeholders across multiple departments to create seamless, cross-platform User Experiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Pair with senior leads to establish a User Experience strategy, influencing the overarching product and design trajectory from initial concept through execution.
- Craft inventive and compelling design solutions tailored to enhance product learning, acquisition, and engagement, effectively addressing the diverse needs and backgrounds of our user base.
- Regularly assess and analyze the impact of designs on the intended audience, refining and optimizing User Experiences based on these insights.
- Collaborate proactively within a dynamic team setting, including working closely with engineers, product management, and various collaborators, while fostering strong relationships and trust with all stakeholders and leadership.
- Routinely present your designs and strategic insights to team members, stakeholders, and senior leadership, ensuring clear communication and alignment on objectives.
- Adhere to UX design principles and standards within Sorenson, championing best practices among team members and across collaborative projects.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Education
Preferred: 4 Year / Bachelors degree in a design-related discipline with proven experience
Experience
3 years prior in User Experience, visual design, and interface work, with an excellent portfolio showcasing this experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent conversational and written communication skills.
- Fluent experience with and use of Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD is necessary.
- Excellent ability to collaborate within a team and in design and administrative pairing relationships.
- Experience with Microsoft Office/365 office productivity software is necessary; familiarity with other collaborative software like Atlassian (Jira, Confluence, etc.) is a plus.
- Experience with deaf and hard-of-hearing people and communities, exposure to American Sign Language, and/or experience working in environments focused on user accessibility is a plus.
- Experience designing in multiple end-use environments — mobile and tablet, desktop and web, and any specialty applications — is a plus.

- Ability to sit and/or stand at a desk and work with a computer for extended periods of time.
