The Candidate:
We are looking for a US-based engineer, mechanical or electrical to work from a home office, who will work on projects at customer sites as a Field Engineer as well as occasionally visiting our Redmond facility in final assembly and runout of our systems there prior to shipment. We are looking for outgoing individuals with strong engineering skills, who are comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing plant environment, where tool use and problem-solving skills are essential.
The successful candidate will frequently work independently at customer locations and needs to be a self-starter and good communicator as interacting with customers is an essential job component.
Candidates can be recent engineering graduates or more experienced engineers. A background in the heavy equipment or automotive field would be beneficial.
The Engineer's main roles:
On-site installation of systems in customer facilities, in the US and occasionally abroad, including assembly of system hardware, training of customer, installation, and customization of software to customer needs as well as setting up reporting and user-interfaces as required by the customer. Installations are often done by a single engineer but can sometimes require several team members on-site.
- Interact with customer management to understand broader issues within a facility to identify potential further opportunities where we could add value to that operation and increase sales.
- Provide ongoing technical support for existing system installations at various customer facilities.
Specific Skills:
Engineering: Sound understanding and skills in electrical, mechanical, electronics and controls fields are essential. Programming skills and experience are valued as well as experience in schematics, requirements analysis, troubleshooting electronics using basic tools such as a multimeter and O-scope.
Independence: Must be able to work from his/her home office as well as in customer facilities and consequently needs to be a self-starter, self-disciplined and manage work and time effectively.
Discipline: Must possess good work and time management skills to meet project timelines and other customer and Company requirements.
Test Experience: System or component testing experience in an automotive or heavy equipment manufacturing environment is a plus.
Travel: The candidate must be able to work effectively in customer facilities and be willing to work away from home at a customer site for up to 2–3-weeks. The candidate must have a valid driver’s license and have or be able to get a valid passport with no limiting travel restrictions.
Language skills: Fluency in English; multilingual abilities especially Spanish an asset.
