Upper School Art Teacher
This is a full-time position within the Visual Arts department reporting to the Head of Upper School.
Major Responsibilities:
- Teaching Upper School Visual Art with Ceramics and Studio major and minor courses, with other assignments depending on qualifications and interest.
- Act as an advisor and be committed to playing an active role in the school.
- Grading,evaluation and assessment of student work and growth.
- Daily attendance taking.
- Set up and maintain supplies and classroom.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must...
- have a Bachelor's Degree in Art, Art Education, or related field
- have experience in teaching art in grades 9-12
- have a passion for teaching students in the upper grades with empathy and pedagogically proven methods
- have experience teaching a broad variety of art materials and techniques
- be committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and the school community
- collaborate well with colleagues within and across departments
- be committed to engaging in professional development
The ideal candidate will...
- have a Masters Degree in Art, Art Education, or related field
- Have extensive prior experience in teaching art in grades 9 - 12
- have curriculum development experience
- have experience teaching in independent schools
- have experience using educational technology and Adobe Suite
