Departmental Objective:To insure student housing/dormitory facilities are maintained to a highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and comfort for the students of CNU.
Purpose of the Position:To perform light to moderate maintenance objectives, in a timely and within budget constraints manner, to include all campus housing systems, consisting of 3,900 student domiciles.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position:- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
- Under minimal supervision, must be able to trouble shoot and perform duties involving moderately complex carpentry, plumbing, understanding of HVAC systems, flooring/carpets and carpet tiles, ceiling tiles and frames, doors and locks, paint/patching of walls and ceilings, understanding of fire alarms/panels, gas fire places, electric/gas appliances, and electrical work such as ballasts, fluorescent and LED lighting.
- Ability to perform repairs in residential areas where students, faculty, or staff may be present.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and to perform some manual labor.
- Ability to escort vendors while on campus, for the purpose of answering questions and providing entry to secure areas.
- Ability to complete routine residential or commercial repairs, be able to prioritize work orders, and inform management of potential issues.
- Ability to work a daytime schedule and be on-call on a rotating basis. Additional hours may be required to complete summer room turnover or in an emergency.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Previous experience using hand tools, power drills, tap/die sets, power augers, or handsaws.
- Previous experience in performing residential or commercial maintenance.
Experience:
- Experience working in a university or residential setting.
- Experience doing moderately complex residential or commercial maintenance.
