Our Labor and Delivery Unit was designed exclusively for new moms and babies. Woman’s has delivered more than 320,000 babies since our inception in 1968, but we still treat every birth as unique and special. Our patient rooms, designed by nurses, offer a home-like setting along with the assurance of having the most advanced technology available. A typical obstetrical patient includes antepartum, observation, outpatient testing, circulating cesarean deliveries, triage and laboring patients who are minimal to high-risk.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two years prior office experience or formal training through a medical office management training program
- Previous Unit Coordinator/Unit Clerk experience preferred
Responsibilities of the Unit Coordinator position include, but are not limited to:
- Answers incoming calls from public and doctors, answering inquiry, taking messages, or connecting to desired or proper destination.
- Greets physicians, patients, and families and provides available information as appropriate. During emergencies, effectively communicates to appropriate personnel.
- Works closely with the Charge Nurse regarding staff availability. Communicates assignments to ancillary staff when requested in a timely and respectful manner.
- Assists Charge Nurse with triaging patients and managing patient flow.
- Admits patients to area according to procedure. Prepares patient chart accurately. Instructs patient on unit procedures and orients patient to LDR room.
- Accurately admits, discharges/transfers patients to Meditech and Central Surveillance systems.
- Maintains an accurate patient status in admitting module of Meditech.
- Inputs and tracks requests in computer when transcribing orders (lab, x-ray, dietary, Central Supply, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, etc.).
- Enters nourishment/supply orders when requested by Managers, being mindful of budgetary restrictions.
- Enters work orders when needed, following up with Nurse Manager.
- Performs clerical duties including typing, filing, copying, etc. as appropriate to area, and as delegated by the Director, Obstetrics and Managers, Obstetrics.
- Assists with maintaining ORM and schedules by assuring completeness and accuracy of both, as delegated. Schedules cases and seeks assistance as needed.
- Enters patient charges in an accurate and timely manner. Communicates with appropriate staff to assure accuracy.
- Periodically delivers and receives items (blood, specimens, medicines, etc) to and from other departments as necessary and as delegated by the nurse. Assures all items are labeled appropriately.
- Performs other duties assigned by Department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.

Hours
Night Shift 40 hours week; combination of (3) 12-hour shifts and a 4-hour shift or (2) 12-hour shifts and (2) 8-hour shifts.
Pay
$12.27 – $17.33
