About the Department:NC State University’s ComTech, within the Office of Information Technology, provides data networking, cable television, and telecommunications services for the NC State campus community as well as managed telephony services to other UNC System organizations.
Communication Technologies engineers, deploy and maintain campus-wide electronic communications systems that make it possible for NC State students, faculty, and staff to learn and work in an increasingly interconnected global community.
The responsibilities of the Systems and Development Group include the development, operations, and management of ComTech Business Management Systems, Campus Business Communications Systems, and Network Management and Monitoring Systems.
- Work with the Unified Communications Team to support the enterprise voice infrastructure at NC State and the partner organizations supported by the team.
- Review, work, resolve, and respond to support incident tickets generated by end user and escalated by the tier 1 support team within the Service Now platform.
- Perform systems upgrades, patches, and other engineering tasks as directed by the lead engineer.
- Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience.
Other Required Qualifications:- Demonstrated proficiency programming Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unity Connections, and Cisco Expressway.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues within the full real-time communication workflow from end point device to local voice gateway.
- Ability to plan and perform system patches and upgrades.
- Ability to troubleshoot physical phones and soft-phone applications.
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP and related services (DNS, DHCP, routing, switching)
- Working knowledge for call center workflows
- Working knowledge of SIP and other voice protocols
